What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Sherwood S-7700

The S-7700 FM/AM Receiver is similar to the S-8000 above but boasts  a full 80 watts music power output (each channel 40 watts music power or 36 continuous watts at 1,5 % IM distortion).
Other features found on this receiver are a Stereo Indicator Light to provide instant identification of those FM stations broadcasting stereo programs, wide-band 3-mc gated-beam FM limiter, and 1-mc balanced ratio detector which combine to create the pace-setting capture effect ratio of 2,4 dB.
The S-7700 also features outstanding AM broadcast reception with either a 15-kc wide "hi-fi" band pass or sharply selective 5-kc pass band selectable on the front panel. Also built-in ferrite AM rod antenna; no AFC circuit as on S-8000, 22 tubes plus 3 silicon rectifiers, 12 diodes. Size same as S-8000.
