What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

This leaflet highlights some of the design features of the Meridian 207-pro, but only a visit to a Meridian dealer will convey a true impression of its distinctive quality.
 Meridian 207-Pro, why separate boxes?
It is no accident that the 207-Pro is arranged in two parts. One contains the precision-engineered motrised CD transport system and the system power supplies. The CD transport carries the single-beam laser pick-up assembly in a sprung die-cast subchassis, and runs on precision stainless steel guides. The assembly moves out at the touch of a switch on the front panel. This whole mechanism is housed in a heavy aluminium tube and when the plate-glass door slides shut against its soft surround, the spinning Compact Disc is acoustically and mechanically isolated. This aspect of the construction adds a lot to the sound quality of the player and yields the convenience of front-loading without the loss of quality that normally results. The digital signal is passed via a single cable to the electronics unit.
The 207 provides a unique conbination of quality and facility. The very highest standards of audio performance are combined witha truly comprehensive control system, resulting in a product which has received worldwide acclaim. Meridian now provide a complementary range of products to the 207 including 201 Preamplifier,, 205 Power Amplifier, 204 Tuner Timer, 209 remote Control and a range of 3 Active Loudspeaker Systems.
