What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Sansui AU-X301

Sansui AU-X301 Integrated Amplifier
Built to drive low-impedance loads
Today's speaker system present lower impedances to the amplifier than ever before; nominal impedances of 6 or less are becoming more and more common.  And when playing music with wide dynamic  undulations, the actual impedance may go still lower, taxing the amplifier heavily. this is especially true with digital programs because of their wide dynamic range and fast transient response.
That's why an amplifier should have the capability to supply as much current to the power transistors as demanded, and at an instant's notice. Otherwise, gross distortion can result, making it impossible for you to enjoy the full benefits of digital sound. The AU-X301 is expressly designed to drive low-impedances; its dynamic power ratings tell the story - 110 watts at 8 ohms; 190 watts at 4 ohms, and 260 watts at 2 ohms.
High-power output transistors and high-capacity power supply.

Supporting the admirable low-impedance driving capability of the AU-X301 are two factors; high-power output transistors, and a well-regulated power supply that combines a high-capacity power transformer and two large electrolytic capacitors.
High-quality phono equalizer for MM and MC cartridges.
The AU-X301 accepts an input from any cartridge of any impedance. With MC cartridges, you can choose the impedance that your cartridge requires. No sonic degradation results from impedance mismatching.
