Teac A-1200

The Teac Model A-1200U Stereo tape Deck features a three-motor drive system providing independent drive for the capstan and each reel turntable to assure prolonged life of tape transport mechanism, minimum wow and flutter, constant and stable tape travel, and easiest possible operation. Also, three Teac techno-built precision heads, instant pff-the-tape monitoring, sound-on-sound and stereo echo recording, choice of four-track operation, and other highlights are combined to offer profesional quality with operating versatility.
 Three-Motor Drive System
Teac A-1200 contains three independent motors for driving capstan and each reel turntable. A "Dual-Speed Hysteresis Synchronous Motor" provides capstan drive with an effective starting torque  and enables electrical speed change. Capstan motor synchronization assures stable and constant tape run without variations caused by AC voltage fluctuations or other external causes. Electrical speed change found in comparable machines on the market. Two original Teac "Outer-Rotor Motors" are used for reel drive. An externally rotating housing produces a unique flywheel effect to offer smooth and steady motor drive with minimum tape rewinding tension.
In addition, employment of three motors adds years of life to tape transport mechanism, assures the least wow and flutter and the easiest possible operation.  Includes Remote Control System for start and stop of main deck (optional accessory).

Three Teac Techno-Built precision Heads
Teac is known as a leading manufaacturer of instrumentation data recorders, professional audio and video equipment, and even magnetic tape systems for electronic computers. The same technology and manufacturing facilities are just naturally used for all the tape heads manufactured by Teac.  Thus, assured are the wide frequency range, minimized crosstalk, improved signal-to-noise ratio, and distortion-free sound reproduction with all Teac tape machines. Further, three heads operate independently  and enable you to enjoy mike-line mixing and instant off-the -tape monitoring
 Instant Off-the-Tape Monitoring
Recorded signal can be monitored instantaneously using "Monitor" Switch. As the playback head is installed next to recoding head, recorded signal can be played back and evaluated 0,15 second (at 7-1/2 ips) after recording, without interruption of recording.

Built-in-Moke-Line Mixer
Teack A-1200 has two separate input level controls for microphone and line, and enables you to record signals from mike, mixing with signals from a tuner, turntable, or other tape deck connected with its line input. Also, you can have extra enjoyment with Sound-on-Sound and StereoEcho by simple pushbutton operation.

Choice of 4-Track or 2-Track
Instead of standard 4-track 2-channel stereo operation, 2-track 2-channel stereo mode is available as a special order for more critical audiophiles. Specify this to your dealer when purchasing Teac A-1200

All Easy-to Operate Pushbutton System
Ten pushbutton are placed at the lower left corner of front panel and activate any desired operation at feather-light touch.

Automatic Shut-off: at the end of the tape travel
Automatic Tape Lifter: protects head from contact with tape during fast run and adds years of life to both heads and tapes.
Four Independent Preamplifiers: for assured playback and recording of both channels. Fully transistorized for the shortest warm-up time.
100 kHz Bias Oscillator: eliminates stereo beat and minimizes distortion
Very Short time for Winding or Rweinding
4-Digit Pushbutton-Rest Index Counter
Easy-to-Read Dual VU meter
