The Fisher XP-55 speakers

Compact Free-Piston Speaker System
Though it measures only 20" by 10" by 9" deep, the Fisher XP-55 incorporates a bass speaker that is very close to that of large speakers and at the same time free of artificial correctives like shaping networks that after the bass output of the amplifier.
This is an 8-inch unit with a magnet structure weighing 3 pounds, a flux density of 12,500 gauss and a totally new suspension system utilizing a long-throw jnverted half-roll surround. Free-air resonance is 33 Hz, an almost incredible figure for an 8" driver. The 2-1/2 inch tweeter has a new low-mass cone made of a combination of the usual fibrous materials resulting in peak-free response out to 19,000 Hz without coloration.

Model 802 Loudspeaker System
The Bose Model 802 represents the most significant advance in professional loudspeaker systems since Bose first introduced its revolutionary Model 800. incorporating a number of major departures from traditional loudspeaker design, the 800 series has since become the standard among professionals who demand systems which produce the cleanest, most natural sound.
The Model 802 utilizes a multiple array of matched, full-range drivers. Their close acoustical coupling results in a smoothing and broadening of individual driver resonances, producing an unusually transparent and detailed sound. The full-range driver concept also eliminates the need for a crossover, thereby eliminating crossover coloration and yielding a sound which has exceptional clarity and realism.
In each Model 802 enclosure, the eight drivers are mounted on four separate facets for smooth dispersion. Dual reactive air columns greatly increase the bass output, while lowering distortion by reducing cone excursion at low frequencies. A unique impedance control circuit, internal to the cabinet, lowers the high-frequency power requirements by reducing the slope of the impedance - versus - frequency curve.

Excellent transient response is achieved though the use of relatively light cones powered by massive magnetic structures. The smooth frequency response and excellent spatial properties of the multiple-driver design also permit performers to work very close to the speakers without causing feedback problems.
Each driver incorporates an edge-wound, aluminum ribbon voice coil for exceptional efficiency and power-handling capacity.efficiency is further enhanced though the use of a 12-ounce ceramic magnet and a reinforced polymer frame, which reduces magnetic flux leakage.
Matched equalization not incorporated into other professional loudspeaker systems, is tailored to the acoustics of the Model 802 and assures full frequency range performance. The new Model 802-E active equalizer provides extremely detailed equalization for smooth, wide response. Phone jacks and XLR connectors allow a choice of unbalanced or balanced inputs. The 802-E's output circuit will drive high-impedance or 600 Ω lines.

Braun TG 1000 open-reel deck

Thiel CS.5 speakers

The CS.5 is a Two-way ported, floor-standing loudspeaker offering high performance in a compact, easy-to-place cabinet and at an entry-level price. Completely time and phase coherent, the CS.5 provides a dimension of clarity and realism that conventional speakers in its price class cannot achieve, making it ideal for both music and video sound.
The CS.5 incorporates many of the same design techniques used in other Thiel, speakers to achieve our goal of accurate musical reproduction in all areas of performance. The drivers are positioned along a sloping front baffle for correct time alignment, and the crossover is designed to provide phase accurate transitions between the drivers. These two design features alone result in an unusually high level of spatial and transient fidelity for a speaker of this price. A specially shaped grillboard decreases diffraction for more open sound, and the heavy cabinet construction reduces unwanted vibration to improve clarity and imaging.

Quality construction and materials.
The CS.5 uses the same quality materials as the more expensive Thiel models - a die cast magnesium woofer chassis, polypropylene or polystyrene capacitors, and rigid 1-inch thick cabinet walls.
Tweeter
The 1-inch metal dome tweeter uses a large magnet, vented pole, and reinforced rear chamber to allow a low resonance frequency and a wide bandwidth. The result is high frequency reproduction of great clarity and realism.
Woofer
The Thiel-designed 6,5-inch, treated paper cone woofer incorporates the same short coil/long gap motor design as other Thiel woofers for low distortion, very good midrange performance, and clean bass response. The woofer is magnetically shielded to prevent video image distortion.

Making It An Even Better System: A new GX head
A system that uses a head for each function as that of the GX-635D does would not be nearly as advantageous if the head were not of superb quality as well. With Akai's improved GX head, there's no worry on this point.
Made from low-noise crystal ferrite and superb-hard glass, the GX head is incredibly durable. And its new design has totally eliminated the contour effect, thus flattening frequency response at low ranges for much clearer bass sounds. The system as a whole maintains the ideal head gap for each function, improving head sensitivity and eliminating sound drop-out. What all these things add up to are  a better dynamic range and longer, trouble-free service life than possible with other heads. Not only do you get better performance, you receive economic savings as well.

Even the Transport System's new
A lot of study has gone into making this deck worthy of its top-line rank. Accordingly, one of the parts that has been radically changed is the tape transport system.
As you can see, its shape is different from that of other systems. That's because it has been made to conform to the optimum travel path of the tape. Thus the heads touch the tape at just the right spot, assuring the best recording and playback results. This improvement has been accomplished by the addition of two guide rollers, one on each side. And these rollers have been coated with rubber so that vibrations that would normally reach the head block are absorbed. The rubber also pre vents tape slip during transport. Which brings us to another plus of this system stable and steady tape travel. The parts that assure this-new, improved motor, GX heads and tension arms - are introduced hereafter.
One-way, Oil-damped tension Arms
The QX-635D employs one-way, oil-damped tension arms that assure normal transport speed is reached immediately after start. By the use of springs, they allow no tag that could damage your otherwise professional-style recordings. And, they feature a lock mechanism that makes it all the easier for you to thread the tape.

Three-motor, Direct Capstan Drive System
The best thing about this system is what you don't get rubber belts,idlers and other such parts that, in conventional systems, tended to produce vibration and wear. This, along with the fact that a separate motor is  used for each reel as well as for the capstan, ensures that the tape is transported smoothly at a fixed speed during both recording and playback. The new C.P.G. AC Servo Capstan Motor
The capstan performsone of the most important functions in a tape deck, transpotrion of the tape. To guarantee this function is performed perfectly smoothly and steadlly. Akai has developed a new motor for the capstan drive. In the servo circuit of this motor, a Sample-and Hold circuit, is employed. The effect of this is to improve the response characteristics of the servo so that regular speed is always maintained and vibrations emanating from the motor are reduced.

Infra-red remote Control System

Have it either way, in mono for voices, or stereo for enjoying music at its best. Large 10-1/2" reel capacity permits maximum 12 hours recording/playback in mono  or 6 hours in stereo.

High-performance with GX Head
Akai's  GX head which symbolizes the company's lead in the industry, makes its appearance once again, in the GX-620. GX stands for glass and crystal and the head, in fact, is made of special low-noise crystal ferrite set in super hard glass. This durability, besides affording longer head life, also yields a better dynamic range and improved Signal-to-Noise ratio. Three separate heads - erase, reord and playback - enable off-the-tape monitoring. The contourless GX playback head reduces fluctuations in the playback level in the low frequency range and being focsed-field, the high-frequency characteristics are also improved.
Three-Motor, Direct Capstan Drive System
The GX-620 employs Akai's new C.P.G AC servo motor for the capstan drive. A Sample- and-Hold circuit is incorporated in the servo circuit which improves the response characteristics of the servo to maintain the speed accuracy and reduce vibrations emanting from the motor. A major result is that wow and flutter are reduced to a low 0,08% (DIN) 0,04% (WRMS).

Remote Control System
Operating the GX-620 becomes even easier if you use the RC-18 Remote Control Unit (with Cable) or RC-70 unit. Instead of a long cable which is easy to trip over, the RC-70 sends an invisible stream of infra-red rays to the deck to effect mode change. Connect the RC-18 to a timer and you can make unattended recording while you are out or set the timer for timed playback.

The Super Dome tweeter, an E-V exclusive, and the VMR vented midrange driver, the first to apply optimally vented design to mid frequencies, ensure your music is reproduced without the coloration normally found in other high-efficiency drivers. This ADS tree-way speaker system, model L630, features a very high quality dome midrange that provides unusual clarity and openness in the human voice, according to the company. An acoustic suspension soft-dome 1-inch tweeter  with a single-layer, hightemperature metal voice coil, has a magnetic flux density of 1,65 teslas (16,500 gauss), and an operating frequency range from  4,000 Hz to 25,000 Hz. The acoustic suspension soft-dome mid-range 1-1/2 inch driver with high temperature metal voice coil has a magnetic flux density of 1,5 teslas (15,000 gauss), the same magnetic flux as the tweeter, and an operating frequency range from 650 to 4,000 Hz. The long-excursion woofer is 10 inches in diameter, with a 1-1/2 inch high-temperature voice coil and shallow Stifllite cone.
