SAE 2500 / XXV power amplifier

Solid State Power Amplifier
At  the very top of our amplifier line are the Mark 2500 (XXV) Professional Power Amplifier , with 300 watts per channel, min. RMS into 8 Ω  at less than 0,05% Total Harmonic Distortion , both channels driven, 20 Hz to 20 kHz), these amplifiers represent years of sound reinforcement experience. They are offered in our traditional satin-gold and black version (Mark XXV) for home music systems, and the professional version (Mark 2500) complete with black rack-mountable front panel and custom handles. They are easily transported since they weigh less than sixty (60) pounds each.
Along with the fully complementary input circuitry designed into all SAE amplifiers, a unique Parallel-Series-Output circuit utilizes 16 output devices and combines the inherent advantages of both parallel and series connected output stages.
Unit-to-unit repeatability, ease of service, and minimal wiring are the benefits accuring from plug-in drive, input, and relay boards. A massive heat sink of 1/8" aluminum, and built-in forced-air cooling ensure cool operation under the most demanding power and load conditions.
Amplifier Protection
Four means of protection are included: Avolt/amp limiter which senses load impedances below 2 Ω  (without being affected by reactive loads such as electrostatic speakers which are rated at 4 Ω  or higher). A thermal cut-out device  for sensing  of abnormal heat-sink temperature, 4 B-supply fuses, and an AC-line fuse.
Circuitry
The Mark 2500 (XXV) are completely balanced from input to output utilizing full complementary double differential inputs, complementary drives and full complementary series connected output stages. Eight output devices per channel (in paralll/series) are utilized for higher than normal safe-area operation. The output devices are run so conservatively that failure is improbable.
Feedback Level Controls
This type of level control assures a constant input impedance of 50  kohm and reduces the noise figure to less than -100 dB below rated output at all positions.
Meters
The meters in the Mark 2500 (XXV) are direct power reading in Watts. They are extremely useful and easy to read requiring no conversion charts. A dB reference is provided for professional applications. In conjunction with the range switch, they cover output levels from 20 mW to over 400 Watts
Plug-in Board Design
Easily accessible input, drive , and relay boards make the amplifiers both simple to service and consistant in performance from one amplifier to another in production. All boards are constructed with military-grade, FR-10 glass-epoxy material to ensure circuit integrity.
Loudspeaker Protection
In case of subsonic pulses or ±DC outputs the amplifier incorporates a relay activated disconnect circuit, which will automatically disconnected the loudspeakers from the amplifier. Used also during turn-on prevent annoying turn-on transients, this dual relay circuit incorporates features unique to SAE products. The most important of these alleviates high frequency distortion developed by the relay due to "contact diode effect"
Power Supply
The engineering goal was to develop a transformer which was small in size yet have a greater copper-to-iron ratio resulting in better regulation. This was achieved by using thicker square-section copper windings and special laminations which  have extended window openings effecting lower heat generation and greater efficiency. This transformer which is manufactured within the SAE plant is coupled to 4 computer-grade capacitors totaling 40,000 microfarads. This combination creates a power supply which will very no more than 10% from no load to full load.
Forced Air Cooling
A quiet, high-output integral fan provides the necessary cooling for continuous operation under demanding situations or confined installations. The Mark 2500 is equipped with an extra high-speed fan.

Optonica ST-4405 tuner

Optonica ST-4405 in an AM/FM stereo tuner ; featuring a stereo beacon, LED FM center channel tuning indicator, 5-step LED signal strength indicator, and an FM Air Check 400 Hz output tone for presetting of a recorder's level controls. One set of variable line level outputs is provided.
The front panell hasonly one control: for tuning. The output level control is lockated on the rear apron. Front panel switches are provided for power, AM, FM mono, FM Auto (mono/stereo), FM muting, hi-blend (MPX noise filter), and Air Check.
The FM antenna input is 75/300 ohms. A rod antenna and external connection are provided for Am. One unswitched AC outlet is provided.

Performance
Full limiting was attained with 4,8 µV. For 300 Ω and "Tee" antennas the monophonic high fidelity sensitivity (60 dB quieting) measured 10 µV. The stereo high fidelity sensitivity 955 dB quieting) was 70 µV.
At standard test level the stereo frequency response measured +1/-1,8 dB from 20 to 15,000 Hz. Distortion depended on the tuning adjustment beacause the "center channel indicator" illuminates over a relatively large tuning range. Monophonic distrtion ranged from 0,15%  to 0,25%  T.H.D. stereo distortion ranged from 0,15% to 0,3% T.H.D. the Signal-to-Noise ratio measured 71 dB. Stereo separation was +40 dB . Selectivity was good.
The maximum output level corresponding to 100% modulation of the transmiter was 0,8 volts.
The Air Check output level was 0,55 volts; 3,5 dB below the stereo and mono output level corresponding to 100% modulation of the transmitter. For particularly clean recordings we suggest the recorder be adjusted to indicate no higher than -4 dB (below 0-VU/0-dB) when feeding the Air Check signal
Though stations can be received 9with considerable noise) below 3,4 µV input, the LED FM center channel indicator requires at least 3,4 µV before it turns on. The 5-step signal strength indicator requires at least 5,5 µV before the first (lowest value) step illuminates.
AM tuner performance is generally average, with higher than average sensitivity to signals on the high end of the dial.

Overall dimensions measured:  16-15/16" (wide), 2-21/32" (high); 15-1/2" (deep).
Weight is 11 lbs.

Luxman spared no effort on any aspecct of its massive anti-resonant construction, top-quality components, and capabilities, which include D/A conversion for CD, DAT, and digital satellite broadcasting and three optical and three coaxial digital inputs.
Likewise, the Luxman DP-07 CD Player sets a new standard for uncompromising quality of design, materials, and construction in pursuit of Ultimate Fidelity. Its top-loading design, a massive anti-resonant ceramic FRP base and diecast chassis, and the most elaborate damping system ever used in a CD player ensure that the GaAlAs laser pickup tracks flawlessly. As in the DA-07, unmatched purity of output signal is achieved through full separation of L/R power supplies and signal paths. In series with the DA-07, the DP-07 produces a sound of a totally different dimension from any other CD player. In sum, it is the only CD player that can claim to reproduce music as it was first played.

The Ultimate CD Player System
Luxman is so confident that the DP-07/DA-07 CD p;layer system will set a new standard for CD reproduction, it has already started to tackle the development of Fluency DAC-equipped CD players for more moderate budgets. For now, though, the choice of the ultimate CD player is a simple one. Listen and let your own ears help you decide whether you want the state of the art. Because until we can advance it any further, this is it.

A conventional DAC design applying Shannon's Theorem and a digital oversampling filter results in ringing distortions. These can be seen in the small ripples on either side of the musical signal. Ringing results in constant low-level noise and a perceived decline in dynamic range. These spurious signal also cause phase distortions during listening, detracting from the subtle musical harmonics that make music come to life. The Fluency DAC virtually eliminates ringing. A similarly dramatic improvement in reproduction is seen inn the square wave test.
Restoring the full musical spectrum
The advantages of the Fluency DAC are not limited to the elimination of phase shift and ringing. By accurately selecting musical signals at the input stage, the Fluency DAC produces an analog signal with more musical depth. Almost all music sources naturally contain a small but significant harmonic component at the upper limits of audibility. This component is critical to the soundstage localization and musical "ambience" that are essential for realistic reproduction. However, digital recording for compact discs is a pulse-code modulation process using a sampling frequency of 44,1 kHz, which effectively eliminates all musical signal from about 22 kHz on up. Moreover, conventional DAC's employ a filter that begins a steep cut-off at lower frequencies.

Luxman found an ingenious way to restore this missing musical ambience using the Fluency DAC. Because harmonics arise from basic physical laws and mathematical principles, the distribution of harmonics that occur in nature can be recreated. By carefully programming the digital input stage of the Fluency DAC, Luxman has succeeded in reproducing the rich ambience lost in the CD recording and playback.

Pioneer TX-600 tuner

A medium-priced stereo AM/FM solid state tuner with advanced circuitry, high sensitivity and outstanding tonal response.
In designing the new TX-600 tuner, the objective of Pioneer engineers was to create an uncompromising unit of excellence that could be offered to the music public at a very reasonable price. The performance specifications of this new Pioneer component go a long way to show how this objective was fulfilled. The TX-600 combines FET, ICs and ceramic filters to offer unusually high sensitivity and image ratio, along with improved selecitvity and capture ratio. The sound that emanates from the unit is finely balanced, solid stereo sound. And although this Pioneer tuner reflects the very finest of engineering and performance through and through, it is priced surprisingly low so that even the stereo fan operating within a limited budget may fit the TX-600 into his group of components.

Advanced Circuitry In FM Front-end
Nothing has been spared to make the TX-600 one of the finest performing tuners in its price range. Circuitry in the FM tuner  section includes an FET to raise sensitivity and imge ratio while safeguarding against cross-modulation. Additionally , the if stage is equipped with IC and ceramic filters which are necessary for improved selectivity and capture ratio. You will find that the TX-600 receives signals with rare sensitivity even in areas where these signals are usually weak. Moreover, since the MPX decoder (the circuit that separates the two channels of FM stereo programs) works on the highly accurate switching system, it provides a very wide frequency response and stability. Then there is also a discriminator amplifier included in the set that assures sharp channel separation at all times. All of these circuitry features are especially vital today in times of increasing numbers of FM stations.

Easy Tuning
FM tuning on the TX-600 is accomplished with ease, thanks to the extra-wide linear type dial scale. Even in metropolitan areas where a large number of FM stations may exist, this Pioneer tuner has the knack of separating station signals, affording you precision tuning with minimum noise and maximum stereo separation. The TX-600 is also eqipped with a large, illuminated dial and dual meters - one a signal strength meter, the other a center zero meter. When you are using AM, the signal strength meter alone is sufficient for precise tuning.

AM Tuner Section
The AM tuner section of the TX-600 is designed for optimum sound quality and reception. It benefits greatly from the ferrite-loopstick antenna, as well as the combination of double tuning and silicon transitors employed throughout for perfect reception.

FM Multipath Terminal for Ideal Reception
The greatest enemy of clear FM stereo sound is FM multipath interference, which most often occurs when the path of the signal is deflected by a mountain or high-rise building. This interference, however, can often be reduced by changing the direction of the antenna in the optimum direction. The TX-600 is equipped with an FM multipath terminal to help you discover the ideal antenna position. To do this requires that you connect the Pioneer Stereo Display. (Model SD-1000) to the FM multipath terminal on the rear panel of the TX-600.

Additional Features
The TX-600 has a number of other important features that add up to maximum sound performance. There are separate AM and FM output level controls, which can be set to compensate for differences in AM and FM signal strengths, so that the master volume control will not require readjustment-when the selector is switched. Also, there is an FM muting switch, that helps to eliminate FM inter-station noise, that irritating "rustling" between stations. Among the useful auxiliary circuits provided with the TX-600 are an extra pair of tape output jacks that permit direct tuner-to-tape recording.
