The kind of feedback or acoustic resonance caused by sound pressure from high-output speaker systems, for instance, is prevented from harming your music by a number of effective features. "Floor howling" - that caused by vibrations of structure-floors, shelves, desks, etc. - from speakers, are damped before they reach the tone arm and stylus. And they can never spoll the near-perfect operation of the synchronous motor to cause speed errors in the platter. A high-sensitivity tone arm, a noiseless belt-drive system, a convenient Quick -Start mechanism and Pioneer's time-tested Auto-Return arm device. They add up to one of the highest cost/performance ratios available in today's sophisticated turntables, and all are yours to enjoy in the Pioneer PL-514.

Precision Ground Super-Hard carbon-Chromium Bearings in Tone Arm Support

Pioneer uses precision-ground bearings of extra hard carbon-chromium steel in the vertical bearing assembly for the tone arm support in the PL-514.  You enjoy unusually high tone arm sensitivity - that all-important factor in accurate record-groove tracing - not only when your turntable is new, but after years of use. The arm itself has a long effective tracking length (221 mm ), thanks to its gentle S-curve shape.
