The Coniston R small 2-way units
This model uses our unique development of bass reflex loading. The bass advantage of bass reflex designs over any other arrangement, is that given the same cabinet size, bass unit diameter and sensitivity, then lower frequencies can be accurately reproduced. This means that the bass performance achieved by a small reflex cabinet would require a much larger closed cabinet. Small cabinets have the advantage of scale over larger cabinets and can much more easily and economically be made structurally sound
In a simple bass reflex arrangement it is almost impossible to prevent a wide range of frequencies from being emitted from the port whereas only low bass frequency emission is required, typically below 90 Hz. A unique solution to this problem has bass unit magnet to the cabinet back and this tube provides a secondary vented chamber for the bass reflex loading. The emission of frequencies above 90 Hz is dramatically cut whilst frequencies below 90 Hz remain unaffected. Further refinements have been incorporated in the design of the Coniston R to reduce windage noise and cavity resonances.
