Technics SL-B1 turntable

SL-B1 FG Belt drive Servo Turntable

Excellent performance and convenience

Technics continues to be an innovator of high-performance turntables. And now we proudly introduce the SL-B1 manual belt-drive turntable. You'll find the same kind of performance that caused Technics to become a famous and respected manufacturer of turntables. Wow/flutter are held to a low 0,045% WRMS, while rumble, measured according to the accepted DIN B (weighted) method, is -70 dB. Plus the SL-B1 has many front-panel controls for great operational convenience.

FG Servo Control

The superb rotational accuracy of the SL-B1 is due largely to its full cycle detection-type FG (Frequency Generator) servo-controlled DC motor. In combination with sophisticated IC design, the turntable detects any change or drift in speed, and corrective torque is applied immediately. The motor's rotational speed is unaffected by power-supply frequency or voltage fluctuations. The servo control maintains a constant rpm speed for the motor, utilizing the same operational principle as does our direct-drive servo-controls systems.

Electronic Speed switching

Speed switching from 33-⅓ to 45 rpm is accomplished electronically. So there isn't a stepped pulley, belt shifter, or any other mechanical device that might shorten belt life or adversely affect performance.

Front-panel Control

Front-panel controls on the SL-b1 provide convenient operation. Primary turntable functions are easily reached, and can be utilized even when the dust cover is closed.

Pitch Control

Pitch control is provided on the front panel of the SL-B1; it allows you to "fine tune" either 33-⅓ or 45 rpm speeds within a range of 6%

Precision, Illuminated Stroboscope

A stroboscope is built into the Sl-B1 for setting turntable speeds. By observing markings on the platter as they are illuminated by the stroboscope, you can accurately determine speed adjustment for either 33-⅓ or 45 rpm speeds.

Anti-Skating Force Mechanism

The anti-skating force control can be effectively used to reduce the amount of stylus side-thrust. By setting the dial control to the same value as the tracking force, you achieve precise center of the groove tracking.

Viscous-Damped Cueing Control

Viscous-damped cueing control of the Sl-B1 allows the tonearm to be gently and smoothly lifted or set down.

Hinged, Detachable Dust Cover

The dust cover can be positioned open at almost any angle. If you want to take the cover off, it is easily detached.
