Clean sound undistorted even al. A massive input of 170 watts. The SK-1000 lives up to JVC's dedication to The Musical Truth at both low and high input levels. All the thrilling musical dynamics come through smoothly without clipping or coloration, thanks to JVC's refinement of the 3-way, 3-speaker system design in a we've paid particular attention to large power handling. This means that the big 12-inch woofer, the 5-inch cone midrange and the dome tweeter work together to handle inputs as massive as 170 watts with very musical results.

Then to ensure that the SK-1000's speaker units and enclosure all interact acoustically to deliver The Musical Truth from all sources. JVC has employed the exclusive Phase Moire Propagation Pattern technique.

Sold and Bottomless Bass

The 12-inch woofer in the SK-1000 brings out The Musical Truth in the lows because it has a specially-treated, hard-surfaced diaphragm and a smooth-riding bobbin and voice coil structure.

To be more precise, its light and rigid diaphragm is coupled with a low-mass moving structure and powerful magnet 737 gr (26 oz) for a bold, tight bass response. This construction permits a high efficiency (93 dB/w) for better sound definition during low-level play. But it remains strong and resilient to accept huge power inputs without damage and without distortion. Also, the moving structure does not touch the bottom of the unit thanks to the use of a long distance top plate which protects the voice coil from damage and the sound from distortion even when high-amplitude bass is introduced.

Mellower Mids

The harsh sound of poorly designed midrange speaker units can be particularly annoying when you are listening to vocals or music featuring solo instruments JVC avoids this by using a midrange design that's especially engineered for clean and mellow response in high fidelity play. The diaphragm 12 cm (5") diameter is like that of the woofer treated with a special material to retain an ideally hard surface. A hard aluminum alloy metal cap over the center minimizes split vibration - even at high-power input levels - to keep the sound transparent for a pleasing sense of presence. Spurious vibration is avoided and efficiency increased by a thick 5 mm (3/16") die-cast aluminum frame mounted directly on the front baffle.

Room-filling highs from dome tweeter

JVC's search for a better tweeter has LED to a successful discovery by using an elastic instead of a stiff and brittle hard material we've been able to employ the dome shape for the tweeter - the shape which offers the best dispersion. This shape radiates sound directly with no distortion. It fills your room so that no matter where you sit, the full musical range of sounds reaches your ears.

Elastic dome without special treatment tend to collapse, causing many forms of distortion JVC avoids this with the use of special Japanese hemp fibres woven in every regular patterns and coated with an damping material to prevent deformation. The relatively large 25 mm (1") diameter dome tweeter in the SK-1000 brings the highs to life with clarity and crisp musicality.

Level Controls and Enclosure

Two continuously-variable level controls (one each for midrange and treble) allow you to tailor the response of the SK-1000 to suit your room acoustics or your own musical taste. Phase distortion and power loss are kept minimum, and damping and response never deteriorate as the level controls are adjusted.

We.ve also improved the acoustic properties of the SK-1000 enclosure. It has panels of ideally dense materials, braced inside for extra strength. The port in the front baffle has been placed so as to take full advantage of the bass reflex enclosure design. Sides and top are finished in attractive simulated walnut.

JVC Phase Moire Propagation Pattern technique

Our engineers have perfected a computer-assisted way of measuring speaker performance that actually translates acoustic response into visible patterns. This is the unique JVC Phase Moire Propagation Pattern technique. With the use of advanced electronic computers we can actually see how speaker units and enclosure interact acoustically. This technique was used in the development of the JVC SK-1000 , for instance. And you can see the results. Notice that there's very little agitation in the pattern at the vital crossover frequencies of 1 kHz and 10 kHz. This further guarantees smooth sound for The Musical Truth from JVC.
