Technics SA-8500X

The concept is simple. The execution is precise. The performance is outstanding - the name is Technics.
The SA-8500X - first 4-channel receiver with automatic CD-4 separation.

Until now you had to depend upon your hands, your eyes and your ears to bring you 4-channel sepaation CD-4 records. When they missed, so did you.
With the Technics SA-8500X. Instead of trial and error, the SA-8500X brings you automatic and continuous  CD-4 separation.
The SA-8500X has just about everything else you might want for command of 4-channel. Automatic carrier level controls. A CD-4 dmodulator with LSI IC's for discrete 4-channel records. A decoder for both types of matrix. And an MPX output ready for discrete FM broadcasts.

There's also plenty of power; 26 watts per channel minimum RMS, at 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, at 8 ohms from 20 - 20 kHz with no more than0,5% THD.
But equally important, all this power is under your control. With 4 VU meters  for visual conrtol of 4-channel balance. 3 tape monitors.  Clik-stop tone controls.  High and low filter switches. And a 20 dB audio muting switch for reducing sound oudput without changing the volume setting.
We've also put a 4-pole dual-gate MOS and 3 ceramic  IF filters into the FM section. So you get a sensitivity of 1,9 µV (IHF).
For stereo, a simple flick of a switch on the front panel straps the amplifiers together.  Producing 80 watts per channel, minimum RMS. At 8 ohms from 20 Hz - 20 kHz with no more  than 0,5% THD.

The SA-8500X - it's the way to hear everything in 4-channel the way it should be heard. Because it's the first 4-channel receiver with both automatic carrier level controls and automatic CD-4 separation.

Sony TA-4300F

 High Performance Channel Dividing Preamplifier
Features:
Unsurpassed Quality - 24 FET's (Field EffectTransistors) exclusively engineered for high fidelity account for an extremely low distortion of 0.03% at 1V output and high S/N ratio of 85 dB at 1V input.
Simple Dividing of Channels - The original frequency range can be divided into 2 or 3 parts with channel selector screw. With the TAD-43F (optional), 4-channel dividing for tweeter and super tweeter is also possible. With two TA-4300F's, the dividing range can be made into 5 parts.
Precise Selection of Crossover Frequencies - You can simply obtain precise crossover frequencies best fit for the characteristics of your speakers with the crossover frequency selector. In 3 channel dividing, 6 steps between 150 - 1000 Hz for low/mid crossover frequency range and 6 steps between 1,5 - 8 kHz for mid/high crossover frequency range are available. In 2 channel dividing, 12 steps of crossover frequencies between 150 Hz - 8 kHz are also available with switchig of the channel selector screw.
Each crossover frequency consists of NF type filter with the slope of 18 dB/oct.
Advanced Bass Control - Low channel frequency shift switch changes the cut off frequency at low frequency range and compensates the characteristics of speakers. Bass boost level control is provided for bass boost at frequencies below 150 Hz having the slope of 12 dB/oct that boost at 20 Hz up to maximum 18 dB,

B&W Matrix 1

The B&W Matrix 1 loudspeaker system incorporates the first radical improvement in enclosure design for many years. Invented by Laurence Dickie (B&W Chief Electronics Engineer) it is an ingenious new type of construction, concealed within the loudspeaker cabinet. This unique construction - the B&W Matrix - virtually eliminates cabinet vibrations, which in ordinary loudspeakers add their unwanted contribution to the final sound.
This is a monitor quality loudspeaker system capable of generating extremely high sound levels. At the same time, due to its wide and balanced frequency response, it will faithfully reproduce the quieter sounds of a solo instrument requiering considerably lower sound level for a faithful reproduction of the live performance.
Quite deliberately, the B&W matrix series of loudspeaker are described as digital monitors. They have been designed for the age of the compact disc, with all the additional reqirements that this material places on the loudspeaker system - such as increased dynamic range, increased transient information, lower noise floor, etc.
B&W Matrix 1 is, however, just as mich at home with good analogue material and essentially will faithfully reproduce whatever signals are fed to it.
 The loudspeaker drive units
Having made this major breakthrough in enclosure design, B&W used their ongoing research programme to incorporate totally new drive units within the Matrix series of loudspeakers. For the bass and bass/midrange units, anew material - homopolymer polypropylene - was chosen. A ferrofluid design was employed for the high frequency transducer, giving an additional 8 dB of clear dynamic range for the increased transient signals of the compact disc.

Crossover, filter network and protection circuits
In any product, when the designer improves one module, others have to be upgraded if the whole is to be superior. Take the example of a car for which a new, improved engine is developed; better brakes and suspension must then complement the improved performance from the power unit if the car is to be a totally better product. Likewise with the B&W Matrix series of loudspeakers: having improved both the enclosure and the drive units, corresponding improvements were necessary both in the components and design of the crossover. The APOC protection circuit on which B&W hold world patents, has also been upgraded.
 The B&W Matrix enclosure.
The newly invented Matrix enclosure, on which patent applications are pending throughout the world, is the heart of this loudspeaker and represents on of the few new inventions related to loudspeaker enclosures for many years. The B&W matrix or honeycomb structure which fills tha air space inside the cabinet prevents the enclosure (as opposed to the loudspeaker drive unit) from radiating sound, almost completely. This has never before been achieved.

Sansui SR-3030 BC

A completely professional two-speed turntable incorporating many of the exclusive features of Sansui SR-4040BC, including the direct belt-drive system and unique anti-howling insulators. Compare its performance figures with those of the SR-4040BC. You'll see that they are minor, and more than offset by the savings this precision component offers. One of the larger differences between the two is the SR-3030BC's unique  Inside Force Canceller, a weight device that opposes the tonearm's natural tendency to cut inward.
This mechanism cheks this tendency for more accurate tracking. The SR-3030BC is an ideal component for use in any medium to large stereo system.

In our newl developed Vibration-Free Rigid Disc Clamping System mechanism, the slighty concave turntable is above the disc which is held against it by upward pressure exered by a large-diameter disc clamper, for higher stability. This new disc clamping system, with the disc held tightly between the turnyable which has the same diameter as the disc and a precisely aligned clamper, corrects any  warping or eccentricity of the disc, so that the microscopic pits are always traced accurately by the center beam of the laser pickup. Another advantage of the system is that it minimizes any undesirable vibrations of the disc.

Newly developed floating suspension system for the ultimate stability.
The optical system and the mechanism which supports it are the most important parts of any CD player, and are critical if it is to operate at peak performance. In the CD Drive Unit, the laser pickup drive system uses a newly developed floating suspension which completely isolates it from internal resonance, external vibrations and any influence of external sound pressure, so it can read the digital signals from the microscopic pits with high precision and extreme stability.

High-prcision 3-beam linear tacking laser pickup for ultimate tracking ability.
The 3-beam linear-tracking laser pickup was newly developed to have the lightest possible weight and excellent rigidity. Together with the newly-developed disc clamipng system using a large turntable, it gives the drive an extremely precise pit tracking ability.

High-rigidity dual-construction chassis
The unit has the ideal anti-resonance heavy-weight dual construction chassis. As the shaved-aluminum front panel is combined rigidly with the thick chassis, the overall construction is solid and has superior non-resonationg characteristics. Moreover, since this CD Drive Unit does not incorporate the D/A converter section, it offers extra rigidity; vibrations and mechanical oscillations from the player cannot interfere with the operation of the D/A converter.

Denon DP-S1

The DP-S1 is a top quality CD transport developed based on a ploicy of fully eliminating vibration and resonance within an innovative design. Vibration and resonance are eliminated through a newly developed pickup mechanism, a large stabilizer, triple-layer floation, and a frame design which keeps the influence of external acoustic pressure to the absolute minimum. The DP-S1 provides five types of digital outputs and an ultra high-speed synchronous optical link (ST-GEN LOCK) for ultimate synchronized driving.

Newly developed pickup mechanism unit
Strong cast aluminum pickup base throughly eliminates extraneous vibration.
A high torque motor provides accurate, extremely smooth rotation, minimizing jutter, in addition , the self-centering stainless steel turntable is driven with an ultra-thick spindle shaft (6mm in diameter), and a very hard, low friction ruby (5mm in diameter) is used for the bearing, providing outstandingly high endurance.
The opening of the disc loading section is air-shielded with a special rubber material to suppress the effect of air vibration entering through gaps, greatly improving the airtightness of the pickup mechanism.
Extremely stable disc playback thanks to a large stabilizer
The stabilizer holds the disc down to correct any warping in the disc and prevent jitter during signal readout.
The stabilizer also thoroughlysuppresses any resonance inthe disc itself.
The moment of inertia generated by the stabilizer, which is heavier than disc, creates extremely stable rotation and improves the readout jitter margin.

Through anti-resonant construction
The latge insulator absorbs vibrations from the floor through a combination of aluminum and sintered alloy.
The mechanissm base which supports the pickup mechanism is floated from the frame with elastic rubber.
The pickup mechanism is itself floated with an oil damper and spring. This Triple Floating Mechanism structure shuts out external vibration to provide playback with excellent vibration resistance.
The highly rigid pickup  mechanism is palced at the center where it is less likaly to be affected by external vibration. This also makes for excellent weight distribution.
The heavyweight chassis and lowcenter of gravity create an ideal non-resonant design.
The design makes use of spherical surfaces and radial forms to keep the influence of external acoustic pressure to a minimum
Synchronized driving with an ultra high speed synchronized optical link (ST-GEN LOCK)
The speed at which date transfer is a very rapid 50Mb/sec, nearly 10 times that of conventional optical links (6Mbit/sec). This virtually eliminates transmission distortion due to signal delay.
The D/A converter master clock is synchronized with the CD Transport clock improving clock precision and suppressing  jitter.
The AT&T ST-Link system is used for the interface, allowing direct one way connection to high quality foreign made D/A converters.
