Allison 120 loudspeakers


 

The Allison convex-diaphragm tweeter is functionally equivalent to a pulsating hemisphere, so dispersion at the highest frequenties is more uniform than that of any other tweeter. This design produces flat power output without on-axis beaming, precise stereo imaging over a large listening area, and an accurate simulation of the original space around the image. Allison technology reproduces sound that musicians and experienced concert-goers immediately recognize as being very close to the original.

 

The Allison 120 has the same robust, solid bass that Stereo Review called „astonishing” in the Allison models Four, Five and Seven. The Allison 110 while compact, is not a „mini” system. It has wide frequency range and balance that is very satisfying. The JVC KD-85 stereo cassette deck always lets you make a perfect recording.. Damage to tapes and mechanism is also avoided. A beautiful machine to behold, this deck is a JVC design coup. Among the extras is the Spectro Peak Indicator. The KD-85 uses the best mechanism ever conceived for a cassette deck - the two motor ID mechanism. In this configuration, two motors ensure stable tape transport. One is a frequency generator (FG) servomotor for capstan drive. The other is DC for reel drive. Because each drive mechanism operates independently of the other, and because operation is thus simplified, the very, very low/flutter of the KD-85 is assured at all times. Full logic control of the deck is the job of three dependable TLL ICs - one custom-made MSI (Medium-Scale IC) and two TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) Ics. They permit direct change of modes at a light touch of the fingertip - the buttons require only a 6 mm push.

This handy rec/playback convenience allows you to visually and constantly check the level of recording in five low-to-high frequency ranges. You can thus avoid saturation (less distortion) and keep noise out (better Signal-to-Noise Ratio).

JVC KD-65 cassette deck


Still more stereo savings, the KD-65 is a lower priced version of the KD-85, minus such extravagances as Full Logic Control, Solenoid operation ans Two-Motor Drive. However, it has a precision frequency generator (FG) servomotor in JVC's ID for capstan and reel drive for low 0,05% (WRMS) wow/flutter. Myryad MI-120 amplifier

The Myryad MI 120 Stereo Integrated Amplifier has been designed to offer a combination of high quality sound reproduction and elegant styling.

The amplifier can accept up to six line-level input sources, including two tape recorders. Outputs are provided for one pair of loudspeakers and for headphones. All functions – input selection, volume and standby – can be operated using the infra-red remote control handset.

The MI 120 offers a range of expansion possibilities:

- The AUX. input can be converted to accept the output from a phono cartridge by installing a Myryad Phono Cartridge

Pre-Amp Module.

- A low-level “Bi-amp” output is provided to feed the Myryad MA 120 Power Amplifier, allowing bi-amplified drive of suitable loudspeakers.

- The “My-Link” input/output can be coupled to other Myryad products which can then be remote-controlled via the MI 120’s infra-red receiver.

Unidirectional Auto Reverse Cassette Deck 

Since unveiling the world's first fully Discrete Three-Head cassette deck with the Model 1000, Nakamichi has long dreamt of making the Discrete Three head design possible in a record/playback auto reverse deck. With the RX-505, we've made the dream a reality. It combines the superior quality of a one-way, Discrete Three-Head, Closed-Loop Dual-Capstan Deck, with the outstanding convenience of auto reverse operation.

Conventional auto reverse decks are designed to reverse the direction of tape travel at the end of a cassette side. Because of this, they all suffer from the resulting problem of azimuth error between the two sides of a tape, causing an audible deterioration in sound quality. And no matter how precise a tape transport is made, azimuth error arising from a reversal in tape travel direction can't be completely eliminated by conventional designs because of irregularities in the construction and "performance" of standard cassette shells. It look the engineering genius and incredible precision of the NAAC system in the Nakamichi Dragon to fully eliminate the problem, with continuous automatic playback head azimuth alignment of both sides of the tape.

The Unidirectional Auto Reverse mechanism solves the same problem with a completely new concept in auto reverse mechanism design. Instead of reversing tape travel direction, this unique mechanism automatically reverses the cassette instead, so absolutely identical tape travel conditions are maintained for both sides A and B of a tape.

Not only is azimuth error between sides of a tape fully eliminated, the inherent advantages of tape travel accuracy and reliability in a one-way transport mechanism can be brought to the highest possible level.

 

Fully Discrete Tree-Head design guarantees exceptionally wide, flat frequency response to 20 kHz. Tape travel is controlled with extreme precision by only the capstans themselves in a highly accurate Closed-Loop Dual-Capstan silent mechanism, and the individual capstans are machined to slightly different diameters so that unwanted flutter components are not allowed to arise. The recording and playback amps are full DC configuration with bipolar power supply, for extremely low total harmonic distortion of less than 0,005%, a figure rivalling that of the finest home audio preamplifiers.

The RX-505 also offers a full complement of features and functions that add more versatility and convenience to the auto reverse format. Automatic fade-out and fade-in prior to and after the reverse operation provide a smooth transition between sides of a tape. Auto Rec Standby, Auto Rec Pause, program Seek, a Master Fader control, and more provide the operating control and convenience cassette enthusiasts will find most useful - especially with an auto revers deck.
