What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Bozak LS-440A speakers

440A

Bozak proudly announcies the introduction of our first "Image Enhancement" speaker system. This totally new concept in speaker design provides the user with both a three-way 18 dB per octave systemm, together with a limited bandwidth two-way 6 dB per octave system housed in a single cabinet.

The LS-440A is ideally used in large listening rooms so that the dramatic image enhancement is realized. It can also be used as a sound reinforcement unit for small concert halls up to 60 ft, in length.

The system consists of a line array 3-driver system comprised of 1" treble, 6" midrange and 8" woofer. Also included is a second array 2-way system consisting of a 4" midrange driver and an 8" woofer.

All of the patented curvilinear design drivers employed in the LS-440A speaker system are aluminum and unique in their ability to respond to transient information without cone break-up. They are unequaled in power handling capacity because of their ability to act as heat sinks.

A particular feature of the LS-440A permits the user to de-activate the midrange frequency in the two-way system included in the cabinet so that the LS-440A becomes a 3-way system with a double bass, resulting in a dramatic increase in bass levels.

The LS-440A is front-loaded for easy access. The woofer are housed in separate compartments and the 6" aluminium midrange driver also isolated through use of a dome.

The lamp limiter "fail-safe" feature, found in all Listener Series models, is included in the LS-440A to provide complete protection against possible tweeter burn-out through over-driving.

The hand-craft LS-440A cabinet utilizes walnut veneers to create a handsome addition to any listening room.

Bozak's LS-440A is an outstanding speaker system, designed specifically for use in medium to very large listening environments where faithful reproduction of the musical program is demanded; and with the unique LS-440A system is achieved.

Bozak LS-400A speakers

Bozak Listener Series - the next generation of Bozak quality in compact size.

Model LS-400A is the largest of the Listener Series. A three-way system, it employs component speakers identical to those used in the full-sized Bozak Concert Series speaker systems. And, indeed, the quality of reproduction, especially in the smaller sized rooms for which the Listener Series is designed can scarcely be distinguished from the larger Bozak speakers.

You must hear the LS-400A to believe it. No speaker on the market of comparable size and price even approaches this finest of compact Bozak speaker systems.

Bozak LS-250A speakers

Bozak proudly presents the LS-250A, Bozak's smallest speaker three-way speaker system but a giant in performance.

Designed especially for those demanding superb sound but with limited listening room space, the LS-250A offers more quality for its size than any other speaker system in its price class. Bozak's soft dome, wide frequency tweeter provides 180° dispersion throughout the listening area, producing minimal distortion and outstanding transient response in the upper register. The LS-250A's 4" aluminium cone is carefully engineered and designed to produce unusual clarity and exceptional capabilities in the midrange frequencies.

As the sounding board is the heart of the piano, the bass driver is truly the heart of the loudspeaker system. Originated at Bozak over thirty years ago, the 12" variable density bass cone used in the LS-250A speaker is compounded of formula. This unique structure gives the cone low mass-thus low inertia. The warm, rich bass sound of the LS-250A, with its sense of feel and ease for effortless sound replication, is a Bozak trade mark recognized throughout the U.S. and around the world.

Also featured in the LS-250A is a three-position contour switch which permits the selection of bright, normal or mellow sound characteristics to match the listening room acoustics or listener preference.

The cabinet housing the LS-250A components is rigidly constructed of 5/8" flake board, and totally sealed (infinite baffle type). Outer cabinet surfaces of the LS-250A are of walnut-grained vinyl, and the interior of the enclosure is heavily damped to minimize cabinet reflections.

The Bozak LS-250A, representing state-of-the-art. Engineering and design, is guaranteed to provide the listener with years of superb sonic performance.

Bozak LS-220A speakers

With its distinctive" tower-like" appearance, the LS-220A, a two-way speaker system, has been designed to provide "bigspeaker" response from its relatively small, columnar enclosure. The tower concept provides the listener with an exciting vertical image sound field with a total absence of the beaming effect usually found in small speaker systems.

Its robust bass, produced by Bozak's 8" aluminum woofer, is integrated with a specially designed cross-over network that assures a smooth transition to the celebrated Bozak 1" soft dome tweeter which provides clean clear highs without a hint of sibilance.

Bozak speakers have always been designed so that they do not "intrude" between the music and the listener.

The LS-220A's 8" aluminum woofer has a rigid, low mass, high compliance cone, and this together with other design criteria, permits the use of modestly powered amplifiers (25 watts RMS) with these efficient speakers.

The clarity, smoothness and warmth of the Bozak treble, without the annoying shrillness heard in many competitive tweeters, assures many hours of continuous listening pleasure with a total absence of "listener Fatigue", due primarily to uneven frequency response.

The sonic performance of the LS-220A assures that this strikingly handsome speaker system will be a worthy new addition to the Bozak product line.

Bozak LS-200A speakers

Listener Series LS-200A Two-way system

The name Bozak has always stood for the very highest standards in sound reproduction. Now, advances in the state-of-the-art. Have enabled Bozak to develop a new generation of compact speaker systems known as the Listener Series.

The flag ship of the Listener Series is Model LS-200A, designed to provide an optimum combination of frequency, phase and transient response resulting in an experience in musical reality from a minimal-sized system which can only be appreciated by listening.

Until the introduction of Bozak's LS-200A, bookshelf speakers represented a serious compromise between the convenience of a small enclosure and the desire for quality sound.

The LS-200A is a two-way speaker system housed in an attractive cabinet and designed for shelf or floor placement.

The system features a wide range B-800 driver that covers both the low and middle frequencies and a 1" soft dome tweeter, together with a specially designed crossover network that smoothly integrates the sound frequencies.

The smallest speaker in the Listener Series, the LS-200A has superb clarity and typical Bozak transient response. This is primarily due to the unique characteristics of the 8" aluminium woofer with patented curvilinear design, and specially constructed 1" soft dome wide-dispersion tweeter which produces crystal clear highs without a hint of shrillness.

The LS-200A does not add anything and, more importantly, does not subtract anything from the musical program.

All of the components used in our assembly of the LS-200A are made with the same care and precision as those employed in the internationally acclaimed Concert Grand speaker system.

Bozak Model LS-400 loudspeakers

Model LS-400 is the largest of the Listeners Series. A three-way system, it employs component speakers identical to those used in the full-sized Bozak Concert Series speaker systems. And, indeed, the quality of reproduction, especially in the smaller sized rooms for which the Listener Series is designed , can scarcely be distinguished from the larger Bozak speakers.

True to Bozak tradition, the LS-400 has been designed in strict accordance with the basic laws of physics, so far as current materials and technology permit.

Fortunately, recent advances in cone geometry, a result of work in Bozak's laboratories, and in materials have permitted the adaptation of drivers from Bozak's Concert Series speakers for use in this compact model to provide a quantum increase in listening pleasure.

The LS-400 uses a new center-damped 12-inch lass speaker, a center-damped 6-inch midrange and a pair of Bozak's new Super-Z extended range treble speakers.

A phase-corrected crossover network provides smooth transition among bass, mid-range and treble speakers as musical frequencies vary. A three position trble switch permits selection of high frequency response characteristics to match room acoustics and personal listening preferences.

The use of two tweeters gives the LS-400 a feeling of spaciousness which has always been a characteristic of Bozak's larger systems.

The cabinet, designed for timeless simplicity, features genuine walnut veneer surfaces with a dull matte finish. The coordinated grille slides out to permit ready access to the front mounted speakers. Grille cloth can be changed by the owner to permit matching room decor.

Bozak Models LS-250 loudspeakers

Model LS-250 is the second model developed in the Listener Series. It is the smaller three-way system to bear the Bozak name. Somewhat larger than the LS-200 , the LS-250 offers greater power handling capacity., the enhanced bass response associated with larger enclosures and the greater mid-range definition which characterized three-way systems as compared with two-way speakers.

The LS-250 embodies the experience and skills developed by Bozak's engineering team after more than "30 years" of designing loudspeakers which have been the standard by which knowledgeable audio engineers and audiophiles alike. Have judged loudspeakers performance.

Because of Mr. R.T. Bozak's insistence to strict adherence to the basic laws of physics, so far as current technology would permit, the great majority of Bozak speakers manufactured over the past three decades are still in service. It is rare indeed to find a traded in Bozak.

As technology has advanced, it has become possible to more nearly satisfy the underlying principles of physics in musical production. Model LS-250 represents the current state of the art.. It embodies a combination of frequency, phase and transient response which would have been impossible to achieve a decade ago.

The three-way LS-250 system incorporates a newly designed 12-inch bass speaker, a 4-inch midrange driver and Bozak's acclaimed new Z-series treble speakers. A phase-corrected cross-over network smoothly shifts sound from bass to midrange at 800 Hz and from midrange to treble at 2,500 Hz.

A three-position treble switch permits the selection of "Bright"> "Normal" or "Mellow"  sound characteristics to match listening room acoustics.

The cabinet is a rigid 5/8-inch totally sealed enclosure of the "Infinite baffle" type. Exposed surfaces are clad in walnut-grained vinyl of such quality that it is scarcely distinguishable from actual wood. The matching brown cloth grille is removeable for easy access to the front mounted drivers.

Bozak Model LS-200 loudspeakers

Bozak Listener Series. Model LS-200

The name Bozak has always stood for the very highest standards in sound reproduction available from current technology. Now, advances in the state -of-the-art. Have enabled Bozak to develop a new generation of compact speaker systems known as the Listener Series.

First and most compact of the Listener Series speakers is Model LS-200, designed to provide an optimum combination of frequency, phase and transient response, resulting in an experience in musical reality from a minimal sized system which can only be appreciated by listening.

Designed and engineered in Bozak's own laboratories by a team personally directed by Mr. R.T Bozak, the LS-200 is intended to provide a lifetime of listening satisfaction. Even after "30 years" of manufacture a traded in Bozak speaker system is a rarity.

Underlying the discernible superiority of Bozak Speaker systems is a tradition of strict adherence to the laws of physics insofar as current technology will permit. This tradition has restrained Bozak from incorporating the many "startling" developments which have come and gone in the loudspeaker industry. What does make the LS-200 outperform previous units is its combination of speakers and cabinetry.

The 8-inch bass driver is supported in a rigid cast basket, not a stamped  frame. The cone is of lightweight aluminium which functions as a heat sink, enabling it to handle much higher levels of power without burning out, compared with conventional paper cones.

The treble speaker is Bozak's new B-200Z tweeter, which has unequalled smoothness over an extended range, yet lacks the "hiss" and "sizzle" which characterize so many extended range units, it, too, features an aluminum cone.

The two speakers are interconnected with a phase-corrected cross-over network which assures smooth transition from one speaker to the other as musical frequencies vary.

The entire system is housed in a rigid 5/8 inch-thick enclosure to eliminate sympathetic vibrations from the cabinet. A scientifically designed duct enhances bass performance. Both drivers are front mounted behind a removable grille. Exterior surfaces are covered in walnut-grained vinyl.

Bozak Celestovox B-1207 speakers

Bozak Celestovox Speaker System , model B-1207

One of great deterrents to reproducing music in the home so that it has the fullness of dimension which characterizes concert hall listening lies in the size of the typical home listening room.

In the vast space of the concert hall, sound revererates from wall and ceiling surfaces there is a finite interval between the time that the direct sound impinges on the ear and the time that the reflected waves reach the listener. In the home situation, reflected sound reaches the ear almost simultaneously with the direct sound, hence there is no feeling of spaciousness.

Bozak engineers have devised a system which so nearly, simulates concert hall conditions in the living room that a whole new dimension is added to home listening. It consists of the Bozak Model 900 Celeste Time Delay and the Model B-1207 Celestovox loudspeaker system especially designed to provide ambience by reflecting sound from flat wall and ceiling surfaces.

Driven by a separate 25-watt or greater stereo amplifier, a pair of Celestovox's can add the excitement of concert hall ambience to your own listening room. Strangely enough, the sound is so natural that you may be unaware of the enhancement unless you switch off the Celestovox speakers, then your ears will quickly detect the lack of ambience.

Since the Celestovox speaker system operates by reflecting off flat wall surfaces there is complete flexibility with regard to speaker location within a room. There is no need for corner placement, since front projection is not required, the Celestovox can be placed behind furniture. Exact location in a particular room can best be established by trial.

In the concert hall, high frequencies are naturally attenuated more rapidy than lows. Celestovox incorporates a high frequency roll-off control to permit adjustment to room acoustics and personal taste.

Bozak B-401 Rhapsody

For a quarter century - since the beginning of "high fidelity" - Bozak loudspeakers have been acknowledged as representing the highest standard of music reproduction.
This has been true both for all types of music and for every range of loudspeaker size and price.
Recognition of Bozak quality has not been confined to music in the home. The same qualities which have kept Bozak pre-eminent among those striving for the finest living-room music reproduction have been equally - perhaps even more so - recognized by professional musicians and audio engineers. The result is that the compact loudspeakers in this folder carry with them the same name and reputation as the sound systems used for the Broadway hit musicals A Little night Music and Candide, in such famed outdoor concert locations as the Hollywood Bowl, Tanglewood and Ravinia and in the mobile orchestra stand used by the New York Philharmonic for its summer series of Concerts in the Park.
While enclosure size bears a direct relationship on loudspeaker performance, the compact speaker systems described below have been engineered by Bozak so that active components complement each specific cabinet size to provide the maximum faithfulness of music reproduction for the particular sizes involved.
 Rhapsody
Model B-401 (free standing unit sculptured foam grille)
Model B-402 (bookshelf unit with changeable cloth grille)
The largest of Bozak's line of compact speakers, the Rhapsody is available in two enclosure configurations, both of which feature genuine walnut veneer surfaces with Bozak's special stain-resistant matte finish.
Model B-401 is a vertical free-standing unit with a pedestal base and with a sculptured foam grille. It can accommodate an insert of glass, slate or marble to protect the fine finish of the top when it is used as an end table.
Model B-402 is a bookshelf version with a changeable cloth grille. It may be used either vertically or horizontally since all surfaces (except the back) are completely finished.
A true three-way system, its speaker complement includes the famed 12-inch variable-density, high-compliance Bozak B-199A bass speaker, the patented B-209B midrange driver, developed in Bozak's laboratories to give maximum presence in the midrange without "break-up" distortions, and the dual B-200Y tweeter array for broad dispersion of the upper frequencies without the shriliness so often encountered. Midrange clarity is further heightened by the fact that the driver is completely isolated from the bass enclosure.
This combination of the very same speakers used in the largest Bozak systems, combined with a passive L-C crossover network, provides a full spectrum of true sound from natural bass through clear midtones to the highest shrill-free treble.
A three-position Acoustical Contour switch permits adjustment of the output frequency response to accommodate varying room acoustics or individual preferences.
If your circumstances require a compact speaker, there is no better choice than the Bozak Rhapsody.

Bozak B-301A Tempo

The uniform quality of Bozak speaker components is such that a Bozak woofer purchased today, for exmple, can be matched with a woofer purchased 10 years ago. This uniformity stems from the fact that Bozak, unlike most other manufactures, completely fabricates and assembles its own component speakers and cabinetry - even going to the extent of compounding the materials used in its speaker cones.
This component unifirmity also permits Bozak to offer its unique speaker "growth" system. Which means that, as your room size, musical acuity or budget increases, your investment in these compact Bozaks need not be lost.
The components can be incorporated into larger Bozak Systems.
An investment in a Bozak speaker system is a lifetime investment in musical enjoyment.

Bozak B-201 Sonora

 Sonora
Model B-210
Desgned for the discriminating music lover who has restricted listening space or budged, the Sonora represents the ultimate accomplishment in two-way speaker desing. Among bookshelf speakers it is distinguished by the openness, clarity and solidity of its sound. Its efficiency is such that it provides faitful reproduction even when driven by the low-powered amplifiers in music systems designed for smaller rooms.
To approach the perfection of three-way Bozak systems, Bozak engineers had not only to develop a special component speaker to handle the bass and midrange frequancies, but also to devlop a vented enclosure to  assure open bass tones.
The wide-range Model B-800B speaker employs a spun aluminum cone of patented design to provide a combination of rigidity with low mass and high compliance to permit outstanding transient response over a broad frequency range. The lightweight cones allow faithful reproduction at even low amplifier powers, but, since its aluminumcones dissipiate heat, it is capable of handling in excess of 60 watts of power -  power handling capability unusual in a speaker of its size.
For the treble frequencies, a single unit of Bozak's celebrated B-200Y tweeter is employed. A passive L-C network provides crossover between the two component speakers at a frequency of 1800 Hz and at s smooth 6 dB/octave raate.

Kettle Drum Speaker of Bozak B-201 (1950)

The distinctive hemispherical shell of the Bozak Kettle Drum Speaker is not just an attractive enclosure, not just a rigid baffle, but an integral, functioning part of new concept in sound reproduction. Actual comparative tests are substantiated by critical listening in proving that the acoustically treated Kettle Drum baffle is unsurpassed in tonal realism and listening ease.

Unlike conventional enclosures, the Kettle Drum does not have a sharply peaked cavity resonance. Thus, all types of sound, instrumental an vocal, are heard without muffling or other distortion. Only a hemispherical baffle is devoid of standing waves. Only the Bozak Kettle Drum employs a hemispherical "tympani" baffle.

Features:

True Pitch, True Tympan Bass

Distinctly Natural Treble

Exceptionally Low Resonance

Outstanding Transient Response

Attractive, self-contained Enclosure (32" dia. spun steel acustically treated baffle with lifting handle, circular panel and tripod base)

Matched Bozak Team Recreates Audio Spectrum

From one end of the useful audio spectrum to the other, from the plucked string of a bass viol to the uppermost coloratura tones, only true, undistotred pitch is reproduced by the Kettle Drum. The 12-inch Bozak woofer, noted for its robust, life-like bass, and the Bozak dual tweeter, distinguished for its non-piercing highs, combine in the "tympani" shell to offer a tonal depth and balanced roudness that is best described as a "3-dimensional" effect.

Effective Crossover Built In, No Extra Network Needed

Response characteristics of the specially damped woofer and dual tweter are such taht an elaborate crossover filter is unnecessary. A built-in 4 mfd. condenser, used in series with the tweeter comprises the crossover network. This simplification is made possible beacuse identical velocities of propagation of both highs and lows permit no annoying phase distortion.
