What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Marantz Imperial 8 speakers

A Marantz Imperial 8 speaker can handle 125 watts of integrated program material, but reproduces full realism with a fraction of that.

The Marantz Imperial 8 speaker system is just one of two exciting Marantz floor-standing speaker models.

The step-up model Imperial 9 wit tow 10" woofers is designed for higher power handling capabilities as well as high efficiency and mirror imaging. Both models reflect the kind of technical expertise and engineering excellence that has made Marantz the choice of professionals world-wide. Stop by your local Marantz dealer and see the complete line of floor-standing and book-shelf speaker systems starting as low as $59,95

Marantz Imperial 9 speakers

Mirror imaging is a unique Marantz attraction not found elsewhere. It is achieved by placing the mid-range and tweeter array of both speaker systems in a mirrored position (either both inside or outside of the speaker). By doing this, the stereo image and overall dispersion is exactly symmetrical giving you the most precise stereo sound and separation possible. The Imperial 9 and 8 may be used in the vertical or horizontal position. And mirror imaging is made easy, since the Imperial 8 is designed with a rotatable array, and the Imperial 9 is designed symmetrically. Mirror imaging, a sound feature that speaks for itself.

Marantz SD-60 cassette deck

Marantz design in cassette decks

Marantz design its cassette decks with the same attention to detail as its acclaimed CD players and Audiophile amplifiers. Top-of-the-range or high-value twin deck - high-performance cassette technology relies on a precision tape transport and perfect tape to head contact driving linear, wide dynamic range electronics.

Mechanical vibration too must be minimised. The SD 60, for instance, features a special cassette shell stabilising mechanism to reduce distortion from vibration. Solid, reliable mechanisms are used in all Marantz cassette tape transport with negligible wow and flutter.

Throughout the range super hard permalloy tape-heads are employed. This material is outstandingly wear-resistant - even with metal tapes. Tape heads are accurately profiled to give perfect tape to head contact for best low-frequency performance.

Replay and recording electronics are to the same exacting standards as our Audiophile amplifiers. Wide dynamic range and low distortion are the sound quality goals.

Dolby HX Pro

Dolby HX Pro is a head-room extension system for cassette tape recorders. The treble content of a music signal can self-bias the tape during recording. With fixed bias this means that the tape is never correctly biased as the treble content of the music changes. Conventional cassette decks constantly under and over the bias tape during recording thereby changing the frequency response potential of the medium.

HX pro exploits this fact by adjusting bias and equalization dynamically during recording. The treble content of the signal is monitored and bias current is kept in line with what is required. HX Pro helps Marantz cassette decks deliver maximum dynamic range with the greatest fidelity irrespective of the signal being recorded. This system is used during recording only and its benefits can be enjoyed on any deck on which the HX pro recorded tape is replayed.

Marantz PM-7001 KI amplifier

PM7001 KI - Signature Integrated Amplifier
The KI Signature series is for many years synonym of finest electronics with best sound quality. Every aspect of the design and construction of the PM7001 KI stereo amplifier has received Ken Ishiwata's personal attention to attain uncompromised quality. The copper-plated chassis and rear panel reduce signal-degrading electromagnetic interference, while its rigid dual layer chassis and solid aluminum front panel virtually eliminate mechanical vibration. Delivering 2 x 70 watts into 8 ohms (120 watts, 4 ohm), this 2-stage constructed Current Feedback amplifier features symmetrical circuits for perfect image balancing, and uses audiophile Customized Components and the new HDAMs to preserve the music's dynamic structure, tonal quality and stereo image. Power handling characteristics have been reshaped and the large toroidal transformer is designed for this renewed circuitry. Its low impedance, wide-bandwidth power supply ensures a massive reserve of energy, to drive even difficult speakers with ease. Enjoy the exclusivity of the Ken Ishiwata Signature integrated amplifier.

Sufficient real power capability to fill the room with musical enjoyment
Ultra low vibration and leakage flux keeps the signal sharp and minimizes internal electro magnetic distortion
Excellent frequency response and superb sonic performance for the highest standard such as SACD
Achieving a unprecedented dynamic, accurate and detailed sound reproduction
Two times identically lay out symmetric audio circuit boards secure precise stereo imaging
Bypasses the tone control circuitry to ensure the purest sound quality
Allows tonal adjustment to personal taste
For bi-wired connection of loudspeakers, or for multiroom applications
Flexible system integration and total control via one system remote

A touch of Ken Ishiwata
The PM7001 KI is a clear example of benchmark engineering and craftsmanship of Ken Ishiwata and features a number of Marantz sound enhancements. The PM7001 KI integrated amplifier is built on a rigid dual layer enforced chassis. All of the analogue signal and control circuits are separated and shielded to prevent cross-talk and other unwanted interference. A high grade power supply centered around a special selected toroidal transformer secures maximum separation, clarity and dynamics. This design configuration is capable of a clear and powerful reproduction of the most demanding musical performances. The strength of each KI Signature design can be found in the attention to detail and the synergy of the different elements

Marantz PM-300 amplifier

The Marantz PM-300 is a stereo amplifier that is FTC rated for 4 ohms at 37 watts per channel, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, at no more than 0,08% Total Harmonic Distortion. At the usual speaker impedance of 8 ohms the rated FTC output power was 30 watts per channel. Overall, this is a nice, moderate cost unit suitable for smaller installations. The output power meters, though having essentially a flat frequency response, had acceptably accurate readings only when the output power was 6 watts 8 ohms, or higher. The meters are calibrated from 0 to 60 watts into 8 ohms and from 0 to 120 watts into 4 ohms. Its equalization of 50 Hz; 1,000 Hz and 10,000 Hz. There is also a 20 Hz low filter. Another convenience feature is the single switched and unswitched AC outlets. In our specifications we show the power output measured into an 8 Ω load to be 3 watts more than the manufactures claimed rating. Marantz emphasises the 4 Ω rating because they say speaker impedances are usually 5-6 ohms, not 8 ohms.
