What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Luxman T-12 tuner

The Accutouch system seizes the exact tuning point including that at the RF stage and offers total, stable reception even against ambient fluctuation.
In this system, the accurate center tuning point is detected by means of a control voltage at the quartz circuit, which activates a mechanical lock function. As the tuning knob is gradually turned to locate the FM station, a positive lock occurs for about 1 second at the exact tune-in point inclusive of the RF stage.
Generally speaking, a quartz-locked FM tuner has the advantage of offering very stable reception against ambient fluctuation such as temperature, etc. But this system functions to control only the local oscillator, and does not extend to the RF stage. Moreover, depending onn the method of tuning operation, tuning error is triggered at a max. 100 kHz, so that various characteristics are deteriorated (such as distortion, separation, rejection etc.) in other words, only our "Accutouch" makes it possible to make the most of the quartz lock system to prevent possible tuning error. When the power is turned off with the Quartz Lock on, the proper receiving condition is automatically obtained the next time power is turned on.

IF Bandwidth Selector
If the IF stage a 2-step bandwidth selectoris provided. In the "wide" position, 2 pairs of LC block filter are combined providing exceptionally good phase characteristics, and realizing ultra low distortion. Conversely in the "narrow" position a combination of block and ceramic ffilters achieves high selectivity.
The IF filters adopted here have excellent group-delay characteristics, however, to make the ultra low distortion tuner perfect, even small deviation of the components used should be controlled. Therefore to solve this, a phase compensation circuit is provided in the IF stage, and the units are checked one by one to realize excellent distortion characteristics.

Sonic Excellence
In the front end an exclusive FM 5-gang variable capacitor is used to make the most of the various superb characteristics in the IF  and following stages. Also high selectivity in each RF amp circuit ensures satisfactory interference rejection. In the detector circuit, a new quadrature IC and a special detector transformer are adopted to realize a low-distortion characteristic through wide bandwidth and high Signal-to-Noise ratio. Distortion at the detector stage has been suppressed down to a level below that of most test equipment. Thus no more than 0,02% distortion is realized for a deviation of ±50 kHz, or no more than 0,05% even through ±100 kHz.
A pilot signal cancellor circuit is arranged in the multiplex stage to improve frequency response and phase characteristics.

Works of Art. - introducing the hardware
The Fluency DAC is the heart of the Luxman DA-07 D/A Converter Unit, a masterpiece of electronic engineering and careful design in its own right. Luxman spared no effort on any aspecct of its massive anti-resonant construction, top-quality components, and capabilities, which include D/A conversion for CD, DAT, and digital satellite broadcasting and three optical and three coaxial digital inputs.
Likewise, the Luxman DP-07 CD Player sets a new standard for uncompromising quality of design, materials, and construction in pursuit of Ultimate Fidelity. Its top-loading design, a massive anti-resonant ceramic FRP base and diecast chassis, and the most elaborate damping system ever used in a CD player ensure that the GaAlAs laser pickup tracks flawlessly. As in the DA-07, unmatched purity of output signal is achieved through full separation of L/R power supplies and signal paths. In series with the DA-07, the DP-07 produces a sound of a totally different dimension from any other CD player. In sum, it is the only CD player that can claim to reproduce music as it was first played.

The Ultimate CD Player System
Luxman is so confident that the DP-07/DA-07 CD p;layer system will set a new standard for CD reproduction, it has already started to tackle the development of Fluency DAC-equipped CD players for more moderate budgets. For now, though, the choice of the ultimate CD player is a simple one. Listen and let your own ears help you decide whether you want the state of the art. Because until we can advance it any further, this is it.

A conventional DAC design applying Shannon's Theorem and a digital oversampling filter results in ringing distortions. These can be seen in the small ripples on either side of the musical signal. Ringing results in constant low-level noise and a perceived decline in dynamic range. These spurious signal also cause phase distortions during listening, detracting from the subtle musical harmonics that make music come to life. The Fluency DAC virtually eliminates ringing. A similarly dramatic improvement in reproduction is seen inn the square wave test.
Restoring the full musical spectrum
The advantages of the Fluency DAC are not limited to the elimination of phase shift and ringing. By accurately selecting musical signals at the input stage, the Fluency DAC produces an analog signal with more musical depth. Almost all music sources naturally contain a small but significant harmonic component at the upper limits of audibility. This component is critical to the soundstage localization and musical "ambience" that are essential for realistic reproduction. However, digital recording for compact discs is a pulse-code modulation process using a sampling frequency of 44,1 kHz, which effectively eliminates all musical signal from about 22 kHz on up. Moreover, conventional DAC's employ a filter that begins a steep cut-off at lower frequencies.

Luxman found an ingenious way to restore this missing musical ambience using the Fluency DAC. Because harmonics arise from basic physical laws and mathematical principles, the distribution of harmonics that occur in nature can be recreated. By carefully programming the digital input stage of the Fluency DAC, Luxman has succeeded in reproducing the rich ambience lost in the CD recording and playback.

Luxman LV-112 amplifier

Luxman Integrated Amplifiers all employ voltage-driven amplification for optimum dynamic performance with negligible transient intermodulation or slew induced distortion. In addition all use High Energy power supplies with high filter capacitance to provide the steady state and dynamic power necessary for proper reproduction of even the most demanding musical transients.

The LV-112 presents such Luxman features as a subsonic filter to remove very low frequency components resulting from warped records, tone arm resonances or other causes, and "Line Straight" which bypasses tone and other controls for the shortest direct path to the power amplifier ensuring the best possible fidelity, imaging and sonic impact.

Luxman K-112 tape deck

The K-112 is a three-head, double Dolby configuration that allows monitoring of the "just-recorded" signal, while the recording is belong made. This  cassette deck is specially designed with a superb "single-direction" transport to ensure professional-grade recording.
This 3-head stereo cassette deck utilizes the latest in refined technological features. Some are as follows:  Hard Hexalam permalloy 3-head system; two motors; Dolby HX-Pro; Dolby B and C; feather touch full logic transport controls; four digit electronic  tape counter with memory; fine Bias control; Luxman System remote control capability, and more.

Hard hexalam permalloy 3-Head full monitoring configuration
The hard anti-wear surface, plus the laminated hexalam low eddy current core, give high unsaturated recording levels coupled with low loss, long life performance. In addition, the Hexalam designm coupled with OFC windings inn the R/P head, result in linear current flow and uniform magnetic flux inn the gap for purest sonic quality. Of course, 3 head allow full tape monitoring capabilities.
Two Motor Drive System
Separate capstan and reel drive motors ensure lowest possible wow and flutter, particularly over the long term. Variations in cassette friction or reel drive irregularities, have no effect on the precision of capstan rotation.
Dolby HX-PRO
This headroom extension system, developed for professional applications, greatly increases high frequency headroom for wide range dynamics without saturation. Operating in the record mode only, it automatically reduces bias in the presence of high level high frequency program material, while simultaneously, and automatically, adjusting the E.Q. dynamically to provide precise even frequency response. High frequency distortion is thereby greatly reduced and is especially effective when using normal (Fe) and high bias ( Co, CrO₂) tapes.
Fine Bias Control
Allows precise adjustment of tape bias for optimization of frequency response. Such adjustment permits one to compensate for variations in tape formulations when using different tape brands or for production variations within the same brands. It is especially useful with the 3 head system.
4-Digit Electronic Counter with Memory
While functioning in the same manner as a mechanical counter, this electronic counter offers more precision while completely eliminating the drive and wear problems of mechanical counters.
Low velocity Tape Head Engagement System
This motor driven cam engagement mechanis, smoothly pulls up the head assembly at low velocity to engage the tape cassette. This eliminates the hard jar and slap of solenoid systems, thus preventing the loosening or distortion of precision head alignments.
Feather Touch Full Logic Transport Controls
Transport control push-buttons, requiring only a light press, activate the computer controlled logic system for instant response of the transport to operator commands.
System Remote Control Capability
When used with Luxman's system remote control centers or receivers, such as the U-100, F-105, R-115, R-117, etc., the K-112 can be operated romotely, along with other Luxman components in the system, with one unified hand held remote controller.
