Tannoy Westminster loudspeakers
Tannoy Dover loudspeakers
Dual Concentric Time Compensated Loudspeaker System
The famous Tannoy Dual Concentric in a modestly sized cabinet that can be floor standing on its own plinth, mounted on speaker stands or a bookshelf.
A 10-inch (254 mm) version of the Dual Concentric drive unit is used in an infinite baffle (unported) cabinet, with rigid bracing and graded acoustic foam damping, to give the best possible sound reproduction in a loudspeaker of this size.
Each Dover is supplied with a separate plinth. If used as a floor standing loudspeaker this plinth can be attached to the base of the cabinet with the screws provided. When used on stands or shelves this plinth is not required.
The Dover is designed to provide the high quality sound of the Tannoy Dual Concentric system in a size of loudspeaker to suit smaller listening rooms.
The high quality of sound reproduction is matched by the standard of cabinet construction. Every Dover is finished in genuine walnut veneers, oiled by hand and the baffle is covered in real cork.
The Tannoy Dual Concentric is, therefore, a true single point sound source loudspeaker system which eliminates unnatural time delay, and provides the smooth consistent intensity of sound necessary to create a precise stereo image.

Tannoy Mercury MkII speakers
The Mercury MkII loudspeakers share the advantage of high power handling and sensitivity with low distortion and smooth frequency response - qualities which have ben the hallmark of Tannoy high fidelity loudspeaker systems for many years.
Loudspeaker Enclosures
To provide optimum performance a loudspeaker cabinet must be rigidly constructed and acoustically treated. The Mercury MkII is constructed from high density particle board lined with an acoustic material to absorb internal reflections and eliminate standing waves. The cabinet is internally braced at antinodal points to minimise cabinet resonance and colouration and the narrow front profile ensures good horizontal dispersion. Low frequency loading of the system is provided by a carefully designed ducted port which reduces distortion and extends the bass response. Each loudspeaker is fitted with a detachable grille of acoustically transparent cloth stretched over a wooden frame.
Drive Units
High frequencies are produced by a polyamide dome treble unit which combines a very smooth response with low distortion and wide dispersion and gives a finely detailed sound. A magnetic cooling Ferrofluid is incorporated and combines high power handling capacity with reliability and protection against sudden overload transients. The asymmetrical front plate is sculptured to improve reproduction by reducing diffraction effects.
Low and midrange frequencies are reproduced by a 200 mm polyolefin cone unit. This cone material gives a very smooth frequency response with negligible colouration. A newly developed cone/coil apex configuration provides a very rigid construction at the point where the cone is driven by the 4 layer high temperature voice coil.
Crossover Network
The crossover network receivers the electronical signal containing the fill frequency spectrum from the amplifier and divides it between the bass/midrange unit and the soft dome treble unit. We use only high quality components, including low loss solid dielectric capacitors and generously rated resistors and inductors. All components are hard wired and internal wiring is by heavy duty cable to minimise signal loss. All components are securely mounted to ensure maximum reliability and freedom from resonance.
Amplifier Power
In our loudspeaker specifications we recommend a suitable range of amplifier powers. The peak power handling capability of all Tannoy Loudspeakers will allow higher amplifier powers to be used with wide dynamic range material. Care must be taken with all amplifiers, irrespective of power output, to avoid abnormal conditions such as switch on surges or amplifier overloading (clipping and distortion) which may result in peaks of power greatly in excess of the specified ratings, and possible subsequent damage to the loudspeaker.

Tannoy Caernarvon loudspeakers
Time Compensated Dual Concentric Loudspeaker System
Superb stereo sound has always been a feature of the Tannoy Dual Concentric Loudspeaker. Now the latest Time Compensated Dual Concentric System take another step closer to the real thing
Designed to bring the advantages of the new Dual Concentric System to smaller living areas, the Caernarvon uses a 254 mm (10") version of the Dual Concentric in a compact Floor standing enclosure. The Two-Speakers-in-One" Dual Concentric unit provides a single axis for the generation of both high and low frequency sounds. The complementary Time Compensated crossover produces a single sound source at one point on that axis.
The Caernarvon Dual Concentric therefore, eliminates time delay distortion created by more conventional loudspeakers. A much improved stereo image results, which - due to the wider dispersion of the Dual Concentric - is more accurate over a wider area.
Careful design and tuning of the Caernarvon cabinet ensures accurate reproduction of lower frequencies to give realistic generation of bass fundamentals. The overall dimensions, however, are small enough to obtain the best acoustic ; match with even quite compact rooms.
The Caernarvon is rigidly constructed from lock - mitred high density particle board, with cross-bracing and bitumen damping of internal panels to increase strength and reduce resonance.
All outer surfaces are veneered in real walnut, and the front baffle has an original cork finish, so that the Caernarvon looks as good with the grille removed. A specially woven Oatmeal cloth is used on the grille, which is removable in three parts.
Removing the centre section of the grille gives access to the high frequency response controls, which can shape the acoustic output of the Caernarvon to suit your particular room characteristics.

Tannoy Arundel loudspeakers
Time Compensated Dual Concentric Loudspeaker System
Superb stereo sound has always been a feature of the Tannoy Dual Concentric Loudspeaker. Now the latest Time Compensated Dual Concentric System take another step closer to the real thing
The Dual Concentric drive unit in the Arundel combines our remarkable high frequency compression driver with a 380 mm (15") bass radiator, to provide one axis along which both high and low frequency sounds are generated
Our unique new Time Compensated crossover with adjustable high frequency response, now aligns these sources at one single point on the axis.
The result is elimination of time delay distortion, with stereo images precisely located in time and space.
The original proportions of the Arundel are a result of our new research to find the optimum internal volume for realistic bass response, with cabinet dimensions that provide real improvements nin sound quality.
The narrower front baffle reduces resonance by giving a more rigid mounting for the drive unit, while the deep cabinet reduces unwanted sound reflections from the rear of the loudspeaker.
The result is a cleaner, more accurate sound for your continued listening pleasure.
The elegant styling of the Arundel has been chosen to compliment both the loudspeaker and your home. Superbly finished, selected real walnut veneers are used on the outer surfaces of the cabinet, with a warm, hand-laid cork finish to the front baffle.
Completing the distinctive appearance of the Arundel is the three-piece detachable grille, covered in acoustically transparent Oatmeal cloth specially woven for Tannoy from fine Swiss yarn.

Tannoy Balmoral loudspeakers
Time Compensated Dual Concentric Loudspeaker System
Superb stereo sound has always been a feature of the Tannoy Dual Concentric Loudspeaker. Now the latest Time Compensated Dual Concentric System take another step closer to the real thing
The Balmoral uses our 305 (12') diameter Dual Concentric drive unit, where the high frequency compression driver is mounted behind the centre of the bass-cone.. Our new Time Compensated crossover uses unique sophisticated circuity to align the high and low frequency sound sources at one point on their common axis.
Precise stereo images are, therefore, created by the Balmoral, a phase coherent Loudspeaker System which eliminates time delay distortion irrespective of you listening position.
Tannoy Loudspeakers are designed as complete systems, and so we have devoted our research to the cabinet as well as to the electronics. The subtle proportions of the Balmoral are no stylist's whim. Research has dictated these dimensions as providing the best acoustic match for our 305 mm Dual Concentric. The shape has also enabled us to mount the drive unit higher, end an reduce the colouration produced when low frequencies interact with the floor.
We use high density particle board with lock-mitre construction for greater strength, and employ rigid cross-bracing and heavy bitumen damping to reduce spurious resonances.
Unlike some loudspeakers the Balmoral will not look out of place in your home. Our specially woven grille cloth and real walnut veneers have been designed to co-ordinate well with any decor. Removing the three piece grille reveals an original styling feature - a handmade cork finished baffle with gold trims.
We realize that the acoustic characteristics of your room can sometimes affect the sound quality. We have, therefore, provided two controls, an a panel showing accurate representations of their effects, to enable you to alter the high frequency response of the Balmoral to suit your environment.

Tannoy Albury SL105 Surrey Speakers
The Tannoy Dual Concentric principle has long been recognised as one of the great technological breakthroughs in loudspeaker design,
Leading musicians use Tannoy Dual Concentric loudspeakers in their live performances and many recording and broadcast studios rely on the Tannoy Dual Concentric to monitor the quality of their output. This same "monitor" standard of sound reproduction is available to yoy in the Surrey Series of Time Compensated Dual Concentric Loudspeakers from Tannoy.
Look behind the grille of any Surrey Series loudspeaker and you will see what appears to be a single drive unit. This is in fact the "2-speakers-in-One" Dual Concentric drive unit.
Operating through the centre of the bass cone, and sharing the same chassis frame, is a compression high frequency driver. These two separate drive units provide a single axis for the production of sound at all frequencies. The audio signal is supplied to each drive unit by a time compensated crossover, that aligns both high and low frequency sound sources towards a single point on that axis.
Each Tannoy Surrey Series loudspeakers is, therefore, a virtual Sound source. This is widely accepted as the "ideal" loudspeaker type, as all Frequencies that make up the sound you hear will originate from the same point in Space and thus maintain their correct time relationships. The music is clearer and More natural, because the real harmonics and dynamics of instruments and voices remain , while your sound image of the original performance is sharper and more convincing.
If everybody listened to music with an average audio system in an average sized room, then we would make just one type of Dual Concentric loudspeaker. Your System and listening environment, however, are as individual as you; so Tannoy Offers you the choice of five Dual Concentric loudspeakers in the Surrey Series
You can choose from the compact Esher, which uses the smallest ever Tannoy Dual Concentric with an 8" bass cone; or two larger shelf or stand Models, the Darking and the Chartsey. Should you have the space for larger free-Standing loudspeakers, then the top-of-the-range Bradley and Albury models will Give you really outstanding performance. There is a loudspeaker in the Tannoy
Surrey Series that will match your system and enable you to enjoy all the sound Advantages of the Tannoy Dual Concentric System
