What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

EPI Model 60 speakers

 Philosophy of EPi Loudspeakers

EPI Loudspeakers division has incorporated all new technological advances, including new cabinet-making technologies, into three highly developed products. the results are three high-performance speaker systems at value prices. this fits right in with the EPI corporate policy. to continue to pioneer improvements in the area of natural sound, and at the same time, furnich you with realistically priced components. to do this we have separated our company into three divisions. with this new corporate structure we can continue to develop new and exciting audio products in different price ranges, because each speaker line gets the full design and engineering attention it deserves. our dedication to product quality is based on our personal interest in the integrity of sound. we're focusing on a new clarity which defines the unique acoustical properties of every instrument. Clear, transparent high frequencies, and tight, crisp basses, giving the listener the ultimate in natural sound.

EPI Model 60

The Linear Sound of an EPI Loudspeaker was never better represented than in our least expensive of a new generation of speaker systems - the EPI Model 60 in a cabinet of attractive new dimensions, the Model 60 offers the same dynamic performance as its predecessor,, the Model 50. EPI has essentially designed a conveniently-sized bookshelf speaker while maintaining the accuracy of sound reproduction. this simply means that regardless of how demanding the listening material may be the Model 60 is capable of delivering transparent high frequencies and solid, but distinct bass notes. its driver complement consists of a 1 inch EPI air-spring tweeter and a custom-made 6 inch high-compliance woofer. the elements of the drivers are combined and tested in the manufacturing process to insure a consistency of quality in a compatible module configuration. One of the most Impressive characteristics of the EPI model 60 is the ease with which it handles massive amounts of power. in this respect it is nearly as capable as the more expensive models. in addition, the Modell 60 is noted (as are all EPi loudspeakers) for its remarkable dispersion. the Speaker boasts an ability to reproduce accurate program material 60° to 90° off axis. This allows you to fill any listening room with equal musical energy over the entire range of the speaker. what is represented in the Model 60 is a method of avoiding any compromises of sound purity by utilizing our advanced technological improvements in relatively small enclosure. the genius of the Model 60 is the fact that we have been successful in capturing many of the outstanding benefits of our more elaborate models.

Epicure Ten loudspeakers

In 1967 Epicure introduced the Model 100. ever since, the top ratings of audio critics, engineers, and consumer testing laboratories have made it a standard in the industry.

Now , after years of research, we 've created a speaker worthy enough to succeed it; the Epicure Ten.

The improvements are not subtle, as you might expect. But dramatic as you can easily hear. We believe the Epicure Ten is the most significant breakthrough in medium-priced speakers in almost a decade.

Tweeter

Here is a 1-inch, air-spring tweeter unlike anything anyone has heard before.

There's a balanced, low-mass voice coil assembly. Not centered semi-perfectly with silicone, but a unique space-age fluid.

No other speaker manufacturer uses it. - Very possibly they'll never want to ; it cost $75 an ounce.

The result is lower distortion in the midrange, particularly noticeable in the voices. And the tweeter produces nearly hemispherical dispersion across most of the audible range.

Woofer

The Epicure Ten has a unique, low-mass woofer. Its low-vacuum deposit cone is light and stiff.

You ger a smoother more accurate bass. The usual resonance and heaviness of the low notes is eliminated. And it's possible to really hear the individual bass instruments, not just bass.

Crossover

The Epicure Ten has a vastly superior electrical crossover. The usual distortion near the crossover frequency is practically non-existent. Mid-range clarity and detail are equally superb.

Epicure Twenty loudspeakers

The Epicure Twenty incorporates superior linearity, excellent dispersion and nearly perfect system phasing. The Epicure Twenty delivers flat, undistorted linear frequency response from 35 - 20,000 Hz.

The floor-standing Epicure Twenty speaker is designed with a front-firing module and an angled top-firing module. Even in the design of the Twenty's cabinetry sound was the single, overriding consideration. The two modules work together to create a sound field. It combines direct sound (radiating from the front module) with reflected sound (from the top module, which not only radiates sound itself, but also angles the sound across your ceiling, which reflects it back to you).

Twenty Tweeters

Here are two of Epicure's 1-inch , air-spring tweeters, each one swept, graded and selected for use in this top line, each pair matched for compatibility.

There's a balanced, low-mass voice-coil assembly. Not centered semi-perfectly, but centered perfectly. And not fixed with the usual silicone, but fixed with a vastly superior substance, a space-age fluid that no-one else in the business uses. The result is lower distortion in the midrange, particularly noticeable in the voices. And the tweeters produce nearly hemispherical dispersion across most of the audible range.

Twenty Wofers

The Epicure Twenty uses two unique, low-mass woofers. Their low-vacuum deposit cones are light and stiff.

The woofers are individually checked for resonance and, like the tweeters, graded and matched for performance compatibility. You get a smoother, more accurate bass. The usual resonance and heaviness of the low notes is eliminated. And it's possible to really heart their individual bass instruments, not just "bass"

Epicure Eleven loudspeakers

The Epicure Eleven, a step closer to reality

The Epicure Eleven, the ultimate bookshelf speaker, incorporates superior linearity excellent dispersion and nearly perfect system phasing. The Eleven delivers flat, undistorted linear frequency response from 38 to 20,000 Hz.

To achieve concert hall clarity ina compact speaker, the Eleven combines, in a ported system. Epicure's celebrated 1-inch air-spring tweeter and a specially fabricated controlled-excursion 6-inch low mass woofer. The tweeter provides unparalleled power response in the mid and upper ranges. In fact above 1800 Hz, nothing in the industry is capable of finer performance.

The key to the Eleven's overall superior sound is the unique relationship - a mathematical one, computer-calculated - between its 6-inch woofer and its bass port. It's not difficult to produce superb mid-range power response and dispersion with a driver this size. But to achieve those qualities in a compact speaker, and at the same time reproduce the earthshoking tones of the lowest bass frequencies, has never before been accomplished.

The sophisticated engineering design of the Eleven works in this way. From its crossover frequency at 1800 Hz to as low as 100 Hz, the Eleven's 6-inch woofer produces dynamic sound and dispersion by itself. Below 100 Hz and continuing through to as low as 38 Hz, the bass port - in essence an audio-active tube of air critically aligned within the speaker - serves to augment the power response of the woofer. So that those deep, fundamental tones normally unavailable to a driver this size become available. The total effect is total sound, concert hall realism from a speaker small enough to fit on a bookshelf.

The Epicure Eleven Tweeter

Here is a 1-inch, air-spring tweeter unlike any other in the industry.

There's a balanced, low-mass voice coil assembly. Not centered semi-perfectly, but centered perfectly. The Epicure Eleven Woofer

The Epicure Eleven has a specially fabricated controlled-excursion 6-inch low-mass woofer. Its low-vacuum deposit cone is light and stiff.

The woofer often remarkable openness and dispersion. The result is a smoother, more accurate bass without the usual resonance and hooviness of the low notes. This woofer makes it possible to really hear individual bass instruments not just "bass".

Epicure Five loudspeakers

A step closer to reality

Epicure is the division of Epicure Products. Inc. With the responsibility for spawning state-of-the-art. Audio products. That puts us in a luxurious position. We're concerned only with sonic perfection . Not price.

Our obvious goal, then is reality. The reproduction of sound exactly as it was played and sung.

To accomplish that we've designed entirely new assembly tools, jigs, and fixtures. Certain critical procedures that could never be done perfectly by hand, are now being done perfectly. The result of our efforts is a new generation of speakers of remarkable accuracy. The Epicure Five is our smallest speaker. But because it utilizes the same basic components as our larger models, it has a power response that's superior to that of any other speaker in its size or price range.

The Epicure Five

In 1967, Epicure introduced the industry's first loudspeaker with true linearity, or accuracy. Ever since, audio critics, engineers, and independent consumer testing laboratories have consistently given our speakers the highest ratings in the industry.

The Epicure Five offers extreme linearity, excellent dispersion, and nearly perfect system phasing. Its frequency response is essentially flat and undistorted from 50 to 20,000 Hz.

With the Five, you've got a speaker small enough to fit practically anywhere in a room, but powerful enough to fill it with the full dynamic range of the music. The Five offers a level of sonic transparency and natural clarity that's totally unexpected from a speaker its size and price.

That's why the company that manufactures the ultimate in loudspeakers, the Tower, offers the model Five with equal pride.

The Epicure Five Tweeter

Here is a 1-inch air-spring tweeter unlike any other in the industry.

It has balanced, low-mass voice coil assembly. Not centered semi-perfectly with silicone, but centered perfectly and automatically with a remarkable space-age fluid that no one esle in the business uses. This unique tweeter produces lower distortion in the mid-range, particularly noticeable in the voices. And nearly hemispherical dispersion across most of the audible range.

The Epicure Five Woofer

The Epicure Five has a specially fabricated controlled-excursion 6-inch low mass woofer. Its low-vacuum deposit cone is light and stiff. The woofer offers remarkable openness and dispersion. A smoother more accurate bass without the usual resonance and heaviness of the low notes. With this woofer, it's possible to really hear indivdual bass instruments, not just "bass"

The Epicure Five Uncompromising 10-Year Warranty

If the Epicure Five were anything less than we say it is, we'd be reluctant to stand behind it. If you return your Epicure Five to our factory, or any authorized warranty station, we'll provide free parts and labor to correct any original manufacturing defect.

EPI 100

 The Linear Sound of EPI
At first glance, it may seem like a contradiction in terms. How do you correlate a sound, something you perceive with your ears, with a line, something you perceive with your eyes.
The answer is surprisingly simple.
Linear Sound is the way a perfectly reproduced audio signal would look when plotted across a frequency response graph; a perfectly straight line, with no dips or peaks in the middle, and no unexpected drop-offs at the frequency extremes.
Linear Sound is accurate sound. And while no loudspeaker to date is perfect, the more linear it looks on a frequency response graph the more accurate it will sound your ears.
Thanks to many years of research and development by some very knowledgeable people, EPI loudspeakers are the most linear you'll hear.
Few loudspeakers have even relatively linear response that extends as low into the bass region, or as high into the treble as EPI loudspeakers.
And EPI loudspeakers dispers all those frequencies over a broader area of the typical listening room than any other conventional loudspeakers (at 15,000 Hz, EPI loudspeakers are still virtually linear 90 degrees of axis). Which means that unlike other loudspeakers , EPI speakers are entirely free of the "boxiness" that makes a loudspekers sound like a loudspeaker … instead of like music.
"The Linear Sound of EPI" expresses our continuing dedication to creating perfectly accurate loudspeakers.

The EPI 100 has become the industry standard for bookshelf loudspeakers. Leading consumer and audiophile publications have consistently given the EPI 100 their top ratings. It does everything yoy want a loudspeaker to do, and it does it al. In a compact cabinet.
The EPI 100 features all the technological advances made by EPI.
You will hear "extended frequency response", which is the ability of a speaker to reproduce both the very lowest, and very highest, musical frequencies.
You will hear "extreme linearity", common to all EPI speakers. Music doesn't come out of the EPI 100 sounding like it's coming out of a box. There is virtually no exaggeration, or coloration of the signal fed into the speakers.
You will hear excellent "dispersion", over 1180 degrees, made possible by EPI's unique one-inch linear air-spring tweeter. No matter where you sit in your room to listen to the EPI 100, you will enjoy a sharply-defined stereo effect.
And, unlike nearly every other speaker, you can listen for hours to the EPI 100 without suffering listening fatigue. The reason is EPI's "minimum distortion" - both harmonic and intermodulation.
Remarkably, the EPI 100 gives you so much, without costing so much.

EPICURE Mod. 14 (fourteen)
