From many
years Acoustic Research revolutionised record players by designing our own. It
was the world's first belt-driven suspended-subchassis turntable and 'sounded'
better than others, long before the hi-fi fraternity appreciated such things.
Years ahead
of its time, in concept and performance, it formed the model which was to be
emulated the world over. Both
turntables are belt driven and offer 33and 45 rpm speeds, changed simply by
manually moving the belt. Each comes with a non-resonant acrylic dust cover.
The EB-101
uses a vinyl-covered particle board plinth and combines a superb sonic
performance with a very smart appearance at a highly affordable price.
And AR's
solutions still hold true.
That's why,
when we re-designed and re-launched our turntable as the Legend it became an
instant success with Audio critics the world over.
But it's not
magic which makes the unique AR sound. That's down to engineering - Acoustic
Research style. We place a lot of emphasis on lostening tests to achieve
optimum reproduction of music's timbres,
rhytms, textures and nuances. In short, we aimed for listener involvement and
satisfaction. Though we place a high priority on listening tests we use the
very latest digital test equipment to track down and eliminate any unwanted to
track down and eliminate any unwanted vibrations which can interfere with the
music.
Both of our
current turntables work on the same principles, even the lower-cost EB-101.
They incorporate high-quality components:
heavy cast, two-piece platters for spedd stability, close tolerance main bearings for overall sound precision and bass
clarity and carefully designed, slightly different, suspension systems to
eliminate the music muddling effects of acoustic feedback.
