What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Akai AM-2200

If you are looking for a beatutiful start in top-quality stereo, the Akai AM-2200 await you. Perfectly matched in performance and styling, the formidable '2200 combination draws upon the latest advances in electronic audio technology to offer you truly outstanding features previously available only with systems of perhaps twice the price.
The AM-2200 boasts a solid 20W per channel continuous output over a wide span of 20 to 20,000 Hz that is versatilely managed by an exceptional array of console controls. Both feature deluxe wood cabinets and push-button rear panel connections. Perfectly paired for excellence in Quality and elegance in design, the  AM-2200 integrated amplifier combine to form a stereo system of rare quality.

Power Amplifier Section with Pure Complementary OCL Circuitry
The AM-2200's two-stage differential pure complementary OCL circuitry assures perfect stability over a wide frequency range and power bandwidth. This hefty power amplifier provides 20 W per channel continuous output power, minimum RMS at 8 ohms load impedance from 20 to 20,000 Hz with no more than 0,5% total harmonic distortion.

Three-Stage Equalizer with Wide Dynamic Range
A three-stage direct-coupled negative feedback equalizer circuit linearizes phono input signals to 110 mV (RMS 1 kHz). At the specified input of 3 mV, the AM-2200 offers an extremely wide dynamic range of inputs.

Two Complete Tape Systems
The Am-2200 has provisions for two complete stereo tape systems. Tape 1 and Tape 2 Record/Playback jacks enable single system operation or connection of two tape decks for simultaneous recording. Dubbing from Tape 1 to Tape 2 Systems can also be easily accomplished. The AM-2200 is also equipped with a Tape 1 DIN jack.

Two Complete Speaker Systems
Two speaker systems can be driven by the AM-2200. its front panel speaker system selector switches allow the use of either A or B systems independently or both systems simultaneously.
 Multiple Sourece Inputs
The versatile input selector lets you quickly change between Phono, Tuner and Aux inputs. The Aux jack also be used for dubbing to Tape 1 and Tape 2 systems.

Tape Monitoring and Headphones
The Tape Monitor switches enable easy tape/source monitoring while a Phones jack for stereo headphones permits private listening.

Precise Tone Control and Loudness Switch
The AM-2200 features individual bass and Treble controls for precise low and high frequency range adjustment. The Loudness switch boots bass and treble response for perfectly balanced sound even at low volume.

High and Low Filter Switches
His and Low Filters eliminate undesired high and low frequency noises for beautifully clearer audio reproduction.

Stereo Balance Control
Perfect left/right apeaker balance is easily attained to match room acoustics with the convenient front panel stereo balance control

Large Click-Type Volume Control
The calibrated Volume control of the AM-2200 is especially large for easy adjustment. It is operated with convenient click-stop settings from minimum to maximum volume as handy points of reference.
