What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

NAD 5120

Semi-automatic belt-drive Turntable
The 5120 incorporates all the vital features of a turntable needed to achieve outstanding musical performance. In September ‘94 What Hi Fi? said “- there’s nothing around to touch it at the price”.
A high quality synchronous motor ensures that the belt driven platter maintains accurate speeds without rumble or flutter. The platter, with its vibration-absorbing thick rubber mat, and the interchangeable tonearm are mounted on a sub chassis, isolating them from the main chassis and from any possible interference introducing vibrations.
NAD’s Dynamic Vibration Absorber (DVA) free floating tonearm counter-weight ensures absolute stylus
tracking stability and freedom for muddying resonances.
The 5120's purity of design and technical innovation promise many years of musical pleasure.
This remarkable NAD product was developed in collaboration with an international team of design engineers. The 5120 was first brought to us by an inventor from Prague. His ingenious concept was a turntable constructed from a minimum of essential components, and with a revolutionary flrxible tonearm made from a printed circuit board.
Under the supervision of NAD's Research Dirctor, an American engineering company generated a computer simulation of a perfect with optimum performance characteristics. This mathematical model was incorporated into the NAD 5120, resulting in a turntable that challenges some of the finest models in the market at a fraction of the cost.
The simple yet elegant design of the 5120 was created by one of the world's leading industrial designers, NAD's technology, combined with aosthetics and human engineering has produced a turntable with superb performance, beauty and value.
Our "floppy" tonearm is the most unique element of the NAD 5120 turntable.
Most conventional tubular tonearms, limited by their material and shape, tend to add resonant colorations to the music being reproduced.
NAD's engineers have taken a fresh approach; the radical flexible and flat design incorporates a precision suspended counterweight system. This "floppy" tonearm, combined with a resonance-free floating sub-chassis, result in a turntable that sets new standards for performance.
The NAD 5120 has brought critical acclaim from the world wide audio press. Here are just a few of their comments:
Ovation Magazine (USA), said " a deceptively simple design that becomes more intriguing at its relatively low cost."
Revue du Son (France), commented " Always true to its basic philosophy, NAD is offering this turntable at a price that beats all competition…"
Hi-Fi (UK), concluded " Sonically, the NAD 5120 is in a class of its own."
