The Linear
Sound of EPI
At first
glance, it may seem like a contradiction in terms. How do you correlate a
sound, something you perceive with your ears, with a line, something you
perceive with your eyes.
The answer
is surprisingly simple.
Linear Sound
is the way a perfectly reproduced audio signal would look when plotted across a
frequency response graph; a perfectly straight line, with no dips or peaks in
the middle, and no unexpected drop-offs at the frequency extremes.
Linear Sound
is accurate sound. And while no loudspeaker to date is perfect, the more linear
it looks on a frequency response graph the more accurate it will sound your
ears.
Thanks to
many years of research and development by some very knowledgeable people, EPI
loudspeakers are the most linear you'll hear.
Few
loudspeakers have even relatively linear response that extends as low into the
bass region, or as high into the treble as EPI loudspeakers.
And EPI
loudspeakers dispers all those frequencies over a broader area of the typical
listening room than any other conventional loudspeakers (at 15,000 Hz, EPI
loudspeakers are still virtually linear 90 degrees of axis). Which means that
unlike other loudspeakers , EPI speakers are entirely free of the
"boxiness" that makes a loudspekers sound like a loudspeaker …
instead of like music.
"The
Linear Sound of EPI" expresses our continuing dedication to creating
perfectly accurate loudspeakers.
The EPI 100
has become the industry standard for bookshelf loudspeakers. Leading consumer
and audiophile publications have consistently given the EPI 100 their top
ratings. It does everything yoy want a loudspeaker to do, and it does it al. In
a compact cabinet.
The EPI 100
features all the technological advances made by EPI.
You will
hear "extended frequency response", which is the ability of a speaker
to reproduce both the very lowest, and very highest, musical frequencies.
You will
hear "extreme linearity", common to all EPI speakers. Music doesn't
come out of the EPI 100 sounding like it's coming out of a box. There is
virtually no exaggeration, or coloration of the signal fed into the speakers.
You will
hear excellent "dispersion", over 1180 degrees, made possible by
EPI's unique one-inch linear air-spring tweeter. No matter where you sit in
your room to listen to the EPI 100, you will enjoy a sharply-defined stereo
effect.
And, unlike
nearly every other speaker, you can listen for hours to the EPI 100 without
suffering listening fatigue. The reason is EPI's "minimum distortion"
- both harmonic and intermodulation.
Remarkably,
the EPI 100 gives you so much, without costing so much.
