What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Luxman CX-1

Ultimate Fidelity Sound Reproduction by Means of DC Configuration
Lux's unique philosophy of ''real time proces'' is taken into account in addition to through study of conventional distortion shown by continuous signals. To avoid large capacitor harmful to tonal quality pure DC amplifier circuit is employed.

Perfect Muting Circuit
In the case of a head amp which deals with the lowest level signals, even the slightest thump noises at On/Off switching time cause a serious problem. With this unit, a muting circuit is provided that short-circuits the output by means of realy for about 10 seconds after the power is turned on or off, which completely removes this nuisance.

Necessary and Sufficient Noise Ratio
At the 30 dB position, the input-equivalent noise is -150 dB/V, input shorted, based upon IHF A-curve. Generally speaking, with a head amp whose 1st stage is composed of transistors, the S/N ratio is excellent when a low-impedance cartridge is used, but it is audibly deteriorated at the time of use of high-impedance cartridge. With this unit, FET's are employed at the 1st stage, and the S/N ratio is immune to fluctuation of impedance. At the 20 dB position the noise level is -148 dB/V.

Amplitude Selector
Most MC cartridges are classified into 2, one with an extremely mall output voltage and the other with a relatively large output voltage. To handle both types, the amplitude selector is abile to select either 20 dB or 30 dB gain. Also, the ''Bypass'' position is useful when an MM cartridge is used. needless to say, appropriate counter-measures are taken against shock noises at the time of switching.

Perfect Elimination of External Inductance Noise
The inside is shielded by quality silicon steel plate so as to minimize the noises caused by the inductance of transformer of amp or phono-motor of turntable, and also the input terminal is directly wired to the printed circuit board with the optimum earth point, which ensures virtually perfect elimination of external inductance noise.

High-Quality Power Supply Section
Ripple ingredients are suppressed by means of a ripple filter, and at the high sensitivity constant voltage power supply circuitry effective counter-measures are taken to prevent power source noises. In addiction, a decoupling circuit of large capacitance is used.

Other Features
Contact resistance increases as time goes by. To ensure ultra low contact resistance and to prevent its possible deterioration with the lapse of time, gold-plated pin-jack terminals are employed. naturally, specially selected components are used, and the best-quality metalic film resistors, precision potentiometers, and metalized film capacitors, are placed at optimum points.
