What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Luxman R-1050

 Ultimate High Fidelity Stereo Component
AM/FM Stereo Receiver Luxman Model R-1050
A brand New reciver with LUX's impeccable breeding and modern styling.
 Pre-amp Section
A rotary switch makes it possible to select FM, AM, Auxiliary, or either of two phono inputs. The equalizer stage is composed of a two stage direct coupled amp with PNP and NPN transistors, which ensures excellent linearity and adeguate phono overload protection.
Two sets each of tape input and output allow duplication from one tape recorder to the other or vice versa and instantaneous monitoring from either input. This is an extremely useful and unusual feature.
Lux's well known NF type tone controls are provided for treble and bass, and low and high cut filters are also included. A loudness switch is employed to boost both treble and bas at low volume levels.
 Power Amp Section
Direct coupled DC output amp circuitry utilizing dual rail power supply ensures the best possible bass, the smallest distortion, and very low noise.
The output stage with almost mandatiry fully complementary configuration makes it possible to suppress distortion to an almost immeasurable level of typically 0,05%.
A time delay muting circuit is provided to remove unwanted switch-on thumps and this simultaneously plays the role of speaker protector.
Very useful and equally eye-catching LED peak indicators make it possible to read the output power level instantaneously.
 FM Section
A high class 4-gang tuning capacitor in the front end offers an excellent 1,8 µV sensitivity, and good overload and spurious characteristics are realized in combination with the dual gate MOS FET.  Linear phase ceramic and block filters guarantee good band pass response. These filters are excellent in group delay time characteristics and sharp skirt selectivity, and a quadrature IC and distortion free discriminstor transformer ensures good limiting and low distortion.
For stable and excellent distortion as well as good separation and S/N ratio, a select PLL MPX IC is adopted, and also an exclusive LC low-pass filter is used to suppres carrier leakage. Moreover a constant voltage supply circuit is provided to ensure stable function of aech section.

Dolbylized FM can be received  with the insertion of an additional Dolby circuit board. Unique LED peak Indicators permit instantaneous reading of peak power output.
 AM Section
For high grade reception of AM broadcasting as well, meticulous care is paid utilizing modern technology, which can be seen in strong AGC, a ceramic filter of good selectivity and a low distortion detector.
