What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

JVC TD-W7SD cassette deck

Auto-Reverse Double-Mechanism Cassette Deck

Pure and wide-range sound from every recording

JVC has once again successfully mixed quality and purity in the TD-W7SD. Quality is assured with the fine amorphous head, Compu Calibration and gold-plated terminals - the means to provide purity. Flat response and wide range from every tape. The TD-W7SD's convenience is exemplified by the dual-deck design that offers among its many features, the continuous recording and playback of two tapes (both sides of both tapes) and simultaneous recording on two tapes (the same). Giving you the analog equivalent of wide range digital recordings - that's how we have built the TD-W7SD.

Compu Calibration - the computer controlled recording calibration system

JVC Compu Calibration lets you enjoy the best sound from each and every recording you make on any tape. Bias or equalization is adjusted in fine steps to ensure flat frequancy response, low distortion and extended high frequencies. The level is also adjusted finely to guarantee natural sound from a recording made with Dolby B/C NR. Conveniently, the last calibrated parameters are kept in memory for each type of tape (Normal, Chrome and metal) and for each of the double cassette decks. This means you can recall and use them over and over without recalibrating.

Fine amorphous head with pure PC-OCC wiring.

A great deal depends on the head design in determining the sound quality of a cassette deck. So in the TD-W7SD. JVC has developed the "fine amorphous" head that features superior high-frequency response (as an amorphous head does) and excellent magnetic and abrasion-resistant properties (as Senalloy head does). Moreover, the wiring in the head uses PC-OCC - copper of highest purity - to greatly reduce signal loss as well as improve purity. No wonder you enjoy pure, clean taped sound and extended response over long periods of time.

Reduced acoustic modulation noise

Vibrations, such as those set up by speakers and footsteps cause acoustic modulation noise and harm the purity of taped sound JVC has drastically cut this type of noise by using large insulators and a cassette-shell stablizer that firmly secures the mounted cassette.
