What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

JVC's triple Power Protection

Two "P's" to remember - Power and Performance - for purer sound

Power and performance make this JVC model outstanding for its price. The JVC R-S7 delivers more power output for your money than any other in its class. Indeed, it drives even the most inefficient speakers with ease at low distortion of 0,03% or less. Control capabilities, looks, durably and circuitry add still more value.

Phono equalization is accurate with an impressive 90 dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio

Microelectronics have their place, but there's no ICs in this phono equalizer formed of discrete parts. No IC, for instance, can ensure the highs/n of 90 dB - higher than you'll find in many more expensive receivers.

Extra rugged Power Transistors for more.

The power amp of the R-S7 is a sophiosticated, fully complementary OCL type, with as many as twelve transistors in each channel. The power transistors themselves are extra rugged to provide true performance over a wide range of output. This means more musical margin.

Full safety is assured with JVC's triple Power Protection

This safeguards your system by providing three important functions;

1.Power On/Off shock noise never reaches speakers;

2.Speakers are electronically disconnected in the event an abnormal DC voltage appears at the terminals; speaker damage is entirely avoided; and

3.Power transistors are protected in the event of shorts, low speaker impedance or other power-related mishaps.

Tuner performance in FM and AM is as clean as we can make it.

The IF amps and a quadrature detector in the R-S7 are in IC from. Distortion is only 0,15% or less (mono), the Signal-to-Noise Ratio is an outstanding 82 dB, and the frequency response is 30 to 15,000 Hz. Then, for pinpoint tuning, a new 4-element ceramic filter raises selectivity to a high 65 dB. Another IC is found in the PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) FM stereo demodulator to keep distortion to a low 0,3% or less over long years of use. The AM sound is pleasant and listenable thanks to still another IC for AM RF/IF.
