What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

SAE 5000 noise reduction system

Impulse Noise Reduction System
Ever since the invention of the recorded disc, annoying "clicks" and "pops" caused by scratches, static, and other imperfections, have consistently disturbed the listening pleasure of mysic lovers. Now, SAE introduces the unique model 5000, an Impulse Noise Reduction System which eliminates those unwanted sounds with no adverse effect on the quality of the recorded material.
This break-through in electronic circuitry is so demonstrably effective, that the SAE 5000 is destined to beacome an essential part of any sound system.
The SAE 5000 is compact and sleek, built to SAE's exacting standards, and ready to enhance the performance of any system, from the standard receiver/turntable combination to the most sophisticated audiophile components.
Before the technological break trough achieved by the 5000, there were many records that offered less than ultimate performance and some which were rendered virtually unlistenable due to the presence of impulse noise. Impulse noise is generated by static discharge, record blemishes or accumilation of dirt, and is often referred to as "clicks"  and "pops". Now, with the 5000, most of these problems can be overcome. Many virtually lost recordings can be played again with their fidelity unnamed by impulse noise. Ofcourse, unblemished recordings can be played without being adversely affected by the 5000. only sounds which are detected as impulse noise are eradicated. All else remains. Old recordings, even 78 rpm's may be rejuvenated by our new system.
The circuitry in the SAE 5000 is the result of extensive research and evaluation by its inventor, Jack Sacks, into the field of impulse noise.
At the start of research a careful statistical analysis was made of impulse noise and those properties which are unique to it. From this information a logic circuit was developed for the 5000 which constantly monitors the music, searching for those unique parameters which  indicate the presence of impulse noise. Upon detection of the presence and duration of the offending impulse, which is accomplished by examining the shape of the "spike", and other parameters, the noise removal circuit comes into play which deletes pnly the damaged segment from the sound sequence. Because the duration of this impulse noise is usually so minute, (less than one thousandth of a second), it is possible to extrapolate forward a tiny segment from the music information immediately preceding the gap and thus maintain total continuity and integrity at the same time. This technique is undetectable to the ear and does not adversely affect the frequency response, dynamic range, or spectral balance of the music. The system remains passive and "transparent" at all times, doing its job only when called upon by the detection of unwanted noise.

The SAE 5000 has simple and effective controls. The principal control is a threshold adjustment which varies the sensitvity of the detection circuit. Different record characteristics may require some sensitivity adjustment.
There is a system defeat button which allows the Impulse Noise Reduction (INR) circuit to be bypassed electrically. A tape monitor switch and rear mounted jacks reconnect the tape monitor circuitry used to hook up the 5000.
Finally, the incredible effectiveness of the INR system can be demonstrated by activating the Invert switch. This action reverses the active circuitry and you  are now able to hear Only the noise your system eliminates while in the operating model.

KLH-1 and Analog Bass Computer

 KLH-1
The most dramatic expression of computer control technology
Uncompromising. That's as close as any single word comes to describing the performance of the new KLH-1. It is certainly one of the finest speakers ever made. Its twin computer controlled woofers provide flat bass all the way down to 30 Hz (-3 dB). Like the KLH-2 and KLH-3, it has polypropylene cones for a clear, uncolored mid-range and high end - with remarkable smoothness and clarity - and a control that lets you adjust the response for room placement.

The KLH-1 is our largest computer-controlled model. At 11" x 30-1/2" x 10-1/4", though, it's not much larger than most bookshelf speakers. yet the clarity, the openless, the precise stereo imaging, and, of course, the accurate wellcontrolled bass of the LKH-1 can be compared with loudspeaker systems of any size. And at any price.
Audition the KLH-1 against the toughest competition you can think of. With any type of music you like. You simply won't find anything better.
The KLH Analog Bass Computer, supplied with the speakers is a separate component which connects to your receiver or amplifier. It continually monitors the bass signal and automatically controls woofer excursion as the needs of the music dictate, to prevent, distortion.
The Analog Bass Computer allowed us to design speakers closer to their theoretical performance than ever before.
What this means is a line of speakers that can reproduce clean tight bass equal to optimally designed acoustic suspension speakers four times their size.

In fact KLH computer controlled speakers will outperform comparably prieced speaakers regardless of size. They, finally obsolete the notion that great sound requires great furniture.
Analog Bass Computer technology is such a big step forward in speaker design, we could have easily quit right there. But we didn't.
After researching a wide range of speaker cone materials, we chose polupropylene - a material first developed for speaker use by BBC engineers.
The movement of the polypropylene cone more faithfully reflects the electrical signal than either paper or bexterne cones. So it reduces coloration caused by "break-up" - uncontrolled cone movement.
The result is exceptional definition and clarity in the midrange - particularly noticeable on the sounds which are most familiar, such as the human voice, hand clapping, and the subtle ambiance around instruments and singers. Of course, we chose the other elements of our speakers with equal care.
Instead of stamped steel baskets to support the speaker cones ours are precision die cast.
Our magnet, assemblies are massive - bigger than those found on much larger speakers.
We even added an acoustically absorbent foam baffle around our high-range drivers, for smoother response and clear precise stereo imaging.
Finally, we use genuine walnut veneers in our cabinet construction. Because we think a speaker should look as good as it sounds.

Technics SV-100

SV-100 Digital Audio processor, designed for use with a VCR, provides very high quality digital audio processing for digital audio recording and playback.  Not only is the SV-100 compact, it weighs only 2,9 kg (net) making it the world's lightest digital audio processor.
This means that the SV-100 is ideally suited for portable use, especially when combined with the matching Panasonic NV-100 VCR.  Its attractive styling also complements other high quality audio components when used in a home hi-fi system.
Advanced Semiconductor Circuitry for Compact Size
Sophisticated original LSI and microprocessor technology contributes to this processor's surprisingly compact size and light weight. The PCM signal processing LSI (MN6601) contains about 10,000 elements in a 6,08 x 5,58 mm chip; the playback LSI (MN6602) has about 15,000 elements in a 6,46 x 6,18 mm chip; the recording/playback control LSI has about 6,000 elements in 4,48 x 3,62 mm chip.
Together, these tree LSIs are equivalent to about 320 logic Ics. Instead of the conventional separate A/D and D/A converters, a single AD/DA converter is used for conversion from analog to digital and vice versa.  This revolutionary circuitry also means more dependable performance.
 Designed for Quick Precise Control
For quick and accurate adjustment, the SV-100 has a master level control and a stereo balance control. This unusual system is actually the most practical for most purposes such as recording FM broadcasts or Compact Discs. In both cases it is easiest to adjust same time and no stereo balance adjustment is usually needed. The same goes for live recording where the left and right  channel microphones are normally matched. Furthermore, the less used controls are of the slide switch type, so there is little danger of accidental misoperation.

2-Color FL meters for Accurate Indication
In digital as in analog recording, accurate meters are essential for correct recording level setting. However, with digital audio, it is all the more important not to set recording level  too high. Therefore, the SV-100 is equipped with precision FL meters that extend all the way from -50 dB to +6 dB. Since clipping occours above 0 dB, this wide-range metering system lets you see exactly where you should set recording level to avoid distortion. Comparate this with other digital audio processors that give only an "over" indication if recording level is too high.
 Versatile Connection Facilities
The SV-100 has two complete sets of video input/output jacks, one set on the side and one on the rear panel. This lets you use the Sv-100 in a vertical or horizontal position. The matching Panasonic NV-100 VCR has similar connection facilities so that the two are ideally suited for portable use. Of course, the SV-100 can be used with virtually any home VCR (or ¾-inch U-matic type VCR).

Suplied AC power Unit with Handy Video/Audio Switch
TheS V-100i s ready to use right away since it comes with its own AC power unit for home use. This compact  unit is designed to simplify connections while supplying power to the SV-100. It also works as a battery charger for the optional battery packs available for  the SV-100 On the AC power unit's front panel is a "recording" switch that lets you use your VCR for recording TV programs or for PCM digital recording without having to change any connections
VCR Tracking Check and Battery Check Functions
A front panel slide switch lets you change the display from recording/playback level indication to VCR tracking and battery check indication. The VCR tracking readout tells you how well the video tape recorder's heads are tracking the recorded tracks during playback. You can then adjust the VCR to obtain optimum playback quality. This is particularly important if the tape is being played back on a different VCR from that used for recording. The battery check readout tells you how full the battery is and whether it needs charging.
Other Valuable Features
Built-in high quality mic amp.
Digital copy  output jack.
Mute cancel switch lets you hear sound in VCR's cue and review modes.
Headphone volume control.
Playback mode switch for optimum matching with VCR signal characteristics.
Rec mute switch
