What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

JVC KD-A66 cassette tape deck

The B.E.S.T. Tuning System for Budget-Minded Perfectionists

The KD-A66 is an attractively priced deck, yet is laden with features like a programmed -to-order microcomputer (IC) for the JVC B.E.S.T. tuning system. It adjusts bias, equalization and sensitivity for optimum results from the particular cassette in use, automatically. And amazingly , it takes less than 25 seconds. This and other features should make the KD-A66 an even stronger choice for budget-minded perfectionists.

Get flat response from any tape with B.E.S.T.

While the mounted tape scurries back and forth under the supervision of the microcomputer, the B.E.S.T. tuning system records and plays back test signals on the tape and adjusts the deck in the following three areas:

Bias adjustment. Fine adjustment in eight steps.

Equalization adjustment. Fine adjustment in eight steps per channel.

Sensitivity matching. Eight steps to ensure accurate high frequency response when noise reduction is used.

The computer B.E.S.T. tuning system not only produces an ideal balance between bias, equalization and distortion, it also automatically detects whether the tape is normal-bias or chrome  (or chrome-equivalent) type, even if the deck's tape selector switches are incorrectly set.

After all is said and done, the B.E.ST. System gives you a flat response from 40 to 12,500 Hz with only ±1 dB deviation, no matter what tape is used.

Two-motor full-logic for finger-tip control

Direct change of mode, light-touch operation, punch-in recording and remote control - all of these technologies were reserved only for a handful of exotic and highly expensive decks until only a couple of years ago. Now you get all of these in the reasonably priced KD-A66. and thanks to the two-motor ID design, the tape transport offers low, low wow and flutter of only 0,4% (DIN 45 500)

All heads are hard-to-saturate SA (Sen-Alloy)

Again in the KD-A66, and X-Cut SA Rec/Play head is combined with aa two-gap SA erase head. Both heads are highly efficient, produce little distortion and low noise to assure clean recording from any tape you care to use.

Memory Stop/Play with auto rewind & play; a first-rate convenience.

This convenience allows you to enjoy repeat play of the whole tape or any portion between a counter-indexed section and the end of the tape. Or, you can elect to have the tape rewind at the end of play. You'll wonder how you ever got along without this feature:

Super ANRS and Dolby B compatible ANRS

Recording mute

5-LED multi-peak indicator (MPI)

Output level control, Timer standby

Remote control with optional R-50E
