What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Harman/Kardon T403

The T403 tuner was designed with a single goal in mind musically. The traditional attention that tuner designers give to a signal sensitivity cannot alone provide accurate musical reproduction.  Maitaining phase linearity throughout the early tuning stages is of criticalimportance because FM detectors transpose phase distortion of an incoming signal directly into harmonic and intermodulation distortion. Each operating section if the T403 is carefully designed and engineered to achieve optimum phase linearity.
The T403 is sensitive and selective - and it is quiet. Noise, perhaps the most important element decreasing from tuner performance, falls to an inaudible -70 dB.
The unconventional"summing' meter used in the T403 combines signal-strength and center-of-channel tuning in a single, integrated roading that is more accurate and easier to usse than sseparate meters. Also unconventional are the features of the T403 - features usually found only on far moreexpensive tuners, adjustable muting, variable output level, detector output (for possible four channel use), and 75 Ω (including coaxial input), and 300 Ω antenna connections.
The T403 Sensitivity, selectivity extraordinary signal-to-noisse ratio, phase linearity and its superior sonic performance, make it an ideal companion for the A402 amplifier or for any high quality component.
