The Volvere comes complete with a precision 6,7 kg aluminium platter, directly mounted onto Avid unique inverted bearing system, it is time to finally hear the music.

Precision machined balanced from a solid billet of aluminium, the platter is mass loaded at the edge, giving it a high rotational inertia. Coupling with the conical shaped bearing, there is no lateral movement as it self-centres. The cork mat offers a perfect interface to reflect vibration, keeping it in the record so it passes away more efficiently through the spindle. Around the edge we have employed a high-density rubber absorbing ring, acting as a peripheral wave trap for any minor vibration in the platter.

 

Motor - Volvere uses a 55mNm torque power motor. So what? Well, it is typically four times more powerful than motors used in common alternative designs. That extra power, along with our twin belt drive is put to good use, maximising the platter dynamics so music starts and stops like it should, without bass overhang slurring notes. Timing is superb, the all-important rhythm of music fully preserved and laid bare for you to enjoy.

Such as Avid unique sapphire bearing and clamping system which efficiently channels unwanted vibrations away from the record to the chassis. This gives new clarity to your vinyl; the performance is not vailed but vivid and transparent.

Isolating the main chassis is critical to maintaining low colouration.We have employed a tripoint sprung suspension system with an ultra-low frequency, the result is information and resolution that's out of this world.

 

Power supply - Volvere enjoys a bespoke designed Power Supply for its high torque motor. Incorporating our latest generation DSP signal-generating interface as used in our reference turntables within its own casework and large mains transformer, this totally removes the vagaries of the mains power signal and allowing precise calibration of motor speed. Like all our turntables, each power supply is calibrated to the drive motor, tuning out vibration and maximising torque power, giving you clear, transparent sound with fast and controlled dynamic bass response, everything you need to enjoy your favourite music.

The design objectives for our lowest cost turntable were for the most performance and features at a price easily accessible to anyone. The tonearm

The tiny stylus, as it traces the groove , must bear the weight of the tonearm. It is of critical importance that the weight of the tonearm be held to a minimum. The platter

Die cast if the same special aluminum alloy as in the GT35, the platter is rotated by a precision-ground belt, isolating it from the motor . The platter is balanced and diamond turned during manufacture to achieve true concentric trim. Garrard GT-35 turntable

The GT35 is a perfect example of meticulous engineering. Everything about it - its impressive rumble, wow and flutter specifications, its low tonearm mass and low bearing friction - confirm the visual and tactile impressions you get of high performance.

The tonearm

Garrard engineering has given special attention to this critical aspect of record play. The tonearm of the GT35 weighs just 12 grams, lower than any automatic turntable in its price range. The tonearm features an ultra-light magnesium headshell and jewel bearings ensure that the finest and lightest tracking cartridges will perform up to their maximum capability.

The motor

A DC servo-controlled unit incorporating electronic sub circuits in a self-correcting network. Rumble, wow and flutter specifications rival the finest turntables, including the expensive direct drive units. The GT35 motor rotates records at rock-steady speed with total freedom from AC vibration.

The platter

Dynamically balanced and die-cast from a special aluminum alloy, assuring uniform density. It is rotated by a precision-ground flexible belt, further reducing vibration. The GT35 specifications are well within the professional transcription category.

 

 

Variable speed

Electronic control with independent adjustments for 33-⅓ and 45 rpm. Correct speed is monitored by a stroboscope cast into the periphery of the platter. It is illuminated by an LED ( rather than the usual neon) resulting in a distinct image easily read, even in a brightly lit room.

Garrard GT-55 turntable

Generation Two Turntable with True Tangent Tracking

 

Since the first flat disc record was made, just about many year ago, audio engineers have been searching for a way to eliminate tracking error.

The master record is cut with a stylus that maintains a constant 90° tangent to the groove it is inscribing. Problem: play it back the same way . Anything else produces tracking error (maybe a little, maybe a fair amount), and that means distortion. In many years of search, turntable manufacturers have proposed an array of solutions. Some have been inventive, even ingenious; other have verged on the ridiculous. None until guide recently have been successful. Now there are there; all as different from any other turntable as the flat disc is from Edison's cylinder. Two of them solve the problem by a radical departure from traditional design; they move the entire tonearm across the record - pivot, counterweight and all.

Ingenious, Complex. And expensive.

Garrard found another way. Our half-century of turntable engineering culminated in a solution that retains the pivoted tonearm yet keeps the stylus in an absolutely true 90° tangent to the groove at every point from the record's outer rim right to the label.

Further, we did this with a computer-designed tonearm made of the ultimate in lightweight, rigid metals; magnesium. It has the lowest mass (14 grams) - and the lowest inertial drag - of any multiple-play turntable. And it is automatic. Fully automatic. Silky-smooth, silently automatic, and therefore gentler and safer than the steadiest hand, whether you use it as a single play or a multiple play turntable.

Garrard's solution - the GT55 - delivers other advantages, as well. Some small, some quite large, depending on what's important to you.

And one overriding advantage. The others sell for prices up to $700. the GT55 is under $250. which makes True Tracking not a costly privilege but an available benefit. To everybody.

 

True Tangent Tonearm

The computer designed True Tangent Tonearm keeps the stylus at a constant 90°  tangent to the record groove, by means of an articulated head. The angle between the head (holding cartridge and stylus) and the shaft of the tonearm changes with each groove. Thus, while the tonearm swings in an are over the record, the stylus is kept at a constant, true tangent. Tracking error is eliminated, with its consequent problems of record wear and harmonic distortion.

Made of modern, low-mass magnesium, the GT55'stonearm weight an astonishing 14 grams. It rides on jewel vertical pivots and horizontal ball bearings. Inertial drag and friction are reduced to absolute minimum levels.

Anti-skating protection on the GT55 is provided by a unique, patented system. Completely non-mechanical, it operates magnetically, and varies in proportion to the actual skating force across the surface of the disc. It is calibrated for elliptical and CD4 styli.

Cueing rate is variable, and the cueing operation is damped in both directions by the main cam of the turntable

 

The GT55 is the only belt-drive multiple play turntable with a DC servo motor. Both the motor and the belt-driven automatic mechanism are completely new. The speed of the motor is continuously governed and regulated by an electronic servo system. The automatic mechanism is smooth and silent in both single and multiple play. It is also completely disengaged from the tone arm when the record is playing.

Speed control is variable ±3%, and is electronically governed by the servo which controls the motor. Read-out monitored by an illuminated stroboscope.

The platter is four pounds, die-cast and dynamically balanced for smooth, precise rotation. It is driven by a flexible belt, which insulates it from any possible motor vibration.

The precision controls are conveniently grouped , and include selectors for single or multiple play, as well as a repeat-play option for use in either mode.

Electronic Automatic Transcription Turntable

The Sansui FR-4060 very efficiently eliminates the one major disadvantage of the complicated :changer-type" turntable by employing a non-mechanical, purely electric device, the galvano-magnetic detection mechanism, to detect the end of a record and prepare the tonearm for automatic operation. It makes it possible for the tonearm to ride completely free of stress-producing mechanical linkage systems until it is time for the automatic lead-in, return, repeat or cut operations to take over. In this way, the stylus is protected from distortion-producing lateral thrust, your records are safeguarded just as they would be on a manual, and since the tonearm is free, it can be moved to any part of the record manually, even during automatic play.
