What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

BIC 940 turntable

B.I.C. has been a leader in the U.S high fidelity industry since 1937 and over the years has sold and serviced hundreds of thousands of fine turntables

Out of this experience a new turntable concept evolved. Quite simply it is a Multiple Play Manual Turntable, comparable in performance with the best turntables now available, and which incorporates automatic and multiple play features without sacrificing performance. It is a belt-drive turntable - belt drive a simple, quiet, wow-free method of turning the platter and isolating it from the motor.

It incorporates a program panel which allows the turntable to be operated in 3 modes;

1-As a single-play manual

2-As a single-play automatic in which the turntable cycles and shuts off at the touch of a button and will play one selection as many as 6 times automatically

3-As a multiple-play turntable that will play as many as 6 records in sequence

The B.I.C. motor is a low-speed (300 rpm) 24-pole synchronous motor as opposed to the 1800 rpm motors found in the majority of changers and automatics today.

Other evidences of design sophistication include isomer shock mounts (instead of springs), an extremely low profile , and a feather-touch cycle button which requires anly 90 gm pressure.

The B.I.C. 940 , in addition to the features noted above, has a low-mass tone arm which incorporates vertical tracking force adjustment in the isolated counter weight. Anti-skating is adjusted by a knob on the program panel. The tone arm is the equal of the most sophisticated available. It will track any cartridge, CD-4 included, at the lowest setting recommended by the manufacturer. Cueing is viscous damped up and down.

Performance is comparable with other manual turntables which are much more ex[pensive. The Model 940 is designed to function with as fine a system as you choose to assemble and yet is priced modestly enough to be a logical choice for any system being put together on a strict budget.

The B-l-C Multiple Play Manual Turntable represents the culmination of many years of engineering design effort directed towards the development of a superior manual turntable equipped with automatic, multiple record playing facilities.

Its drive system utilizes a slow speed (300 rpm) 24 pole synchronous motor, and belt drive, previously found only in fine manual turntables. This results in significantly reduced rumble, wow and flutter since idler-pulleys are totally eliminated. The Model 940 maintains precise speed over a wide range of power line voltages, since its motor’s rotational rate is determined solely by power line frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz).

The tonearm system features minimal friction bearings, low mass and resonance, stylus force, and tonearm balancing and an isolated counterweight to maintain optimal tracking force from the first to last record played. Another exclusive feature, a pivotable cartridge shell, permits easy cartridge installation.

The programmer system eliminates the inherent shortcomings of conventional turntables because its action is independent of erratic spindle-sensing mechanisms or dimensional variations of records. The programmer allows for totally manual play or automatic play of single records, repeat playing of single records, programmed play of up to six records, or automatic play of multiple records with programmed repeatability of the last record, all by means of a single touch button.

The suspension system has been designed to prevent mechanical or acoustic vibration coupling, thereby permitting you to take full advantage of the wide dynamic musical range now available in modern disc recordings.

Features:

The Model 940 is wired for 117 volts, 60 cycle operation in the United States. The unit is compatible with 50 cycle operation and can be easily converted. On the underside of all units is a code tag which lists electrical specifications. The Model 940 requires a 50 cycle pulley. This part is available through your dealer or from British Industries Co. Detailed information is supplied with each 50 cycle kit. For operation on 220 volts, contact your local dealer or service center for a suitable step-down transformer and conversion.

Cartridge Mounting Screws The Model 940 is supplied with several pairs of machine screws,

No. 3-48 American standard machine screws.

Belt The drive belt used is made to exact specifications for maximum performance. If ever a new belt is required, we highly recommend that you purchase the genuine, exact factory replacement as inferior replacement belts will seriously downgrade the performance of your unit. This is also available through your local dealer or British Industries Co.

Motor B-l-C Turntables incorporate a 24-pole, 300 rpm motor of outstanding characteristics.

The design nature of this motor insures many trouble-free hours of listening pleasure and very seldom, if ever, requires maintenance or lubrication.

Speed The Model 940 will play records recorded at 33-1/3 and 45 rpm.

Record Size Twelve inch 33-1/3 rpm records may be stacked and played automatically on the automatic spindle supplied with the unit. Seven inch 45 rpm records may be stacked and played automatically on the optional automatic 45 rpm adaptor, Stock No. A-2.

All other size 33-1/3 and 45 rpm records can, of course, be played manually.

Maximum Number of Records B-l-C Turntables accept and play up to six records automatically.

Cartridge B-l-C Turntables will accept any cartridge manufactured at the time of this writing, and will track at the lightest force recommended by cartridge manufacturer.

Cable Capacitance The total cable capacitance (all wiring) of the Model 940 is less than 125 pf and, therefore, is perfectly compatible with Discrete Four Channel records (CD-4).

Cybernet CP-100 turntable

Belt Drive Semi-Automatic Turntable

You can hear the difference in a Cybernet component. That's because Cybernet is a world leader and innovator in the field of electronics and designs all of its audio products to very exacting specifications. And that's why, whichever Cybernet component you purchase, you can be assured of excellent performance, incredibly accurate sound, high reliability and long life.

Belt-Drive System for Excellent Performance

The CP-100 incorporates a belt-drive system for outstanding performance. By eliminating the use of friction idler gears, potential sources of noise and distortion are eliminated. The performance figures are proof of the turntable's excellent sound quality. Wow and Flutter is reduced to a minimal 0,08% WRMS, will deliver precise rotational accuracy while providing extremely quiet turntable operation

Semi-Automatic Turntable Operation

The CP-100 features automatic tonearm return. When a record has finished playing, the tonearm will lift up and return to the rest position and the turntable motor will automatically shut off. The benefit of semi-automatic operation is that your stylus won't stay continuously in the lead-out grooves of the record, as can happen in manual turntables. This translates to less record, turntable and cartridge stylus wear.

Front Panel Controls Add Convenience

We've located the operating controls of the CP-100 right on the front panel for exceptional convenience. A speed selector provides a choice of either 33-⅓ or 45 rpm for your favorite albums and singles. To the right is a "reject" button that will allow return of the tonearm to the rest position anytime during record play. And these controls can be operated even when the dust cover is closed, thus providing extra protection for all your records

Low Mass, Tubular Aluminum Tonearm

The tonearm is of straight tubular aluminum construction for excellent damping of outside vibrations. Its low-mass design, and finely-machined, low-friction bearings, provide excellent tracking ability and exceptional sound quality.

Turntable Base Resists Feedback

It is very important that the turntable base resist both acoustic and mechanical feedback. The CP-100's base construction and individual isolating rubber feet provide outstanding resistance against many outside vibrations that could possibly interfere with the sound quality.

Viscous-Damped Cueing Control

The cueing system is viscous oil-damped for smooth tonearm set-down. The tonearm will gently descend to the record surface, thus providing greater precision than is possible in non-damped cueing systems.

Other features

Hinged, spring-loaded detachable dust cover

45 rpm adaptor

Low-static, rubber turntable mat

AVID Volvere turntable

Magnificent sense of focus and stability whatever the material played.

The Volvere is an audio Turntable manufactured to extreme limits of precision, design and detail. There are many unique and novel features in this turntable and its design you to install the pick-up arm and cartridge of your choice.

The Volvere comes complete with a precision 6,7 kg aluminium platter, directly mounted onto Avid unique inverted bearing system, it is time to finally hear the music.

Precision machined balanced from a solid billet of aluminium, the platter is mass loaded at the edge, giving it a high rotational inertia. Coupling with the conical shaped bearing, there is no lateral movement as it self-centres. The cork mat offers a perfect interface to reflect vibration, keeping it in the record so it passes away more efficiently through the spindle. Around the edge we have employed a high-density rubber absorbing ring, acting as a peripheral wave trap for any minor vibration in the platter.

Motor - Volvere uses a 55mNm torque power motor. So what? Well, it is typically four times more powerful than motors used in common alternative designs. That extra power, along with our twin belt drive is put to good use, maximising the platter dynamics so music starts and stops like it should, without bass overhang slurring notes. Timing is superb, the all-important rhythm of music fully preserved and laid bare for you to enjoy.

Sharing the same philosophy as the reference models. The Volvere has a true audiophile engineered quality.

Such as Avid unique sapphire bearing and clamping system which efficiently channels unwanted vibrations away from the record to the chassis. This gives new clarity to your vinyl; the performance is not vailed but vivid and transparent.

Isolating the main chassis is critical to maintaining low colouration. We have employed a tripoint sprung suspension system with an ultra-low frequency, the result is information and resolution that's out of this world.

Power supply - Volvere enjoys a bespoke designed Power Supply for its high torque motor. Incorporating our latest generation DSP signal-generating interface as used in our reference turntables within its own casework and large mains transformer, this totally removes the vagaries of the mains power signal and allowing precise calibration of motor speed. Like all our turntables, each power supply is calibrated to the drive motor, tuning out vibration and maximising torque power, giving you clear, transparent sound with fast and controlled dynamic bass response, everything you need to enjoy your favourite music.

The Volvere offers people the chance to step into a new world of quality audiophile vinyl reproduction, that puts the music first.

Features:

Quiet and accurate belt-drive

Precision synchronous motor

Low-mass straight tonearm

Up-front controls

Auto return convenience

The design objectives for our lowest cost turntable were for the most performance and features at a price easily accessible to anyone. Check the features and specifications of the L-A21 and you'll agree that we met all our design objectives. Our reliable belt-drive system eliminates vibration and noise and promotes smooth platter rotation. And our motor is an advanced synchronous type - impervious to changes in line voltage. Our tonearm, like those found on our more expensive models, is of a low-mass design for high tracking and low distortion while its straight tube design reduces spurious movement of the arm due to dynamic torsion. Our special headshell is non-resonant yet extremely rigid. We've also included a cueing device and the auto return mechanism. Like all its operating controls, the cue button is outside the closed dust cover so there's little chance of nudging the tonearm and damaging record or stylus . All in all, a great bargain at any price.

A heavyweight, high-mass platter with a huge moment of inertia - The platter chosen for the PD-191A is a 35mm-thick, 5.2kg heavyweight disk, machined from a single, extremely thick aluminum billet, precisely diamond cut and finished to exact surfaces which beautifully reflect light.

Elegant, timeless LUXMAN industrial design, featuring a wood front-panel and low center-of-gravity chassis - Our selection and finishing of the external and structural materials that make up the finished product are highly important to us as we feel that the listener’s operation of an analog player should be a tactile and visually satisfying experience.
