The
Chartwell PM100 loudspeaker system is a breakthrough in compact loudspeaker
design and is intended for use in situstions where space is at a premium, but
musical accuracy must not be compromised.
Many small
loudspeaker systems suffer from lack of deep bass response and their
acoustic output is unnaturally coloured
in the mid-range, but Chartwell research engineers have developed a bass-reflex
cabinet incorporating a ducted port
enabling natural reproduction of sound throughout the entire sudio spectrum
down to 50 Hz and below, a frequency not always accomplished by speakers
several times the size of the Chartwell PM 100.
A 25 mm
soft-dome radiator HF unit and a new specially developed long-throw 165 mm
bass/mid bextrene cone unit are combined with a 10 element crossover network.
More than usual care has been taken in the crossover network design to ensure
the input impedance of the system does not vary significantly over the audio
frequency range. This reduces the demand on the driving amplifier which would
be less liable to break into instability. All these factors ensure that the
very high standard which has become the hallmark of Chartwell products is
maintained.
