What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Harman/Kardon hk100M cassette deck

The hk100M metal cassette deck is an excellent way to introduce yoyr self to high fidelity recording. It offers performance and features usually found only on decks that cost much more.

For instance, with one of the new generation of metal tapes the hk100M gives a frequency response of 15 to 19,000 Hz (±3 dB) compared to the 25 to 16,000 Hz response that's typical of other cassette decks in its price range. Signal-to-Noise Ratio is an extremely quiet 63 dB, wow and flutter unusually low at 0,05%

In addition, the hk100Mprovides features rarely found on other comparable decks. Like a bias fine trim which allows you to adjust the bias precisely for the specific tape formulation you're using. And an output level control on the front panel that lets you match output level of your other components.

The hk100M  - a very sophisticated way to introduce yourself to high fidelity recording
