IC-FET-Solid State AM/FM Stereo Receiver
A delectable treat
for the sagacious sound connoisseur; the ineffable TK-140X
Kenwood's superior
sensitivity and astonishing selectivity starts with 3 FET's 4-gang tuning
condenser, 4 ICs IF circuit super sensitive front-end. Sensitivity of the
TK-140X is a remarkable 1,7 microvolt - but even more important is Kenwood's
selectivity, especially in major metropolitan areas. Where there are two FM
stations on the same frequency, a mere 1 dB difference is all that is necessary
for the TK-140X to capture one station and utterly reject the other.
The abundant
power - 200 watts - of the TK-140X
permits you to drive the least efficient speaker systems with ample power to
spare, (in fact, the Kenwood TK-140X gives you two sets of stereo speaker
outputs, plus stereo headphone jack.)
But most important
is the way the TK-140X reproduces music. Every delicate little tone, every
subtle note, every nuance of the original sound is clean, pure, crisp and
transparent.
New Luminous-Dial
The dial of the
Kenwood TK-140X is new. Even the large tuning meter with stereo indicator is
new. When the set is on, the dial illuminates in a beautiful blue hue, with
every FM and AM frequency clearly visible. Turn the set off, and all the
numbers disappear leaving an elegant opaque decorator panel.
200 Watts
Undistorted Music Power
Kenwood invites comparison of the TK-140X's power amplifier output
characteristics against those of any other stereo tuner-amplifier. The figures
should speak for themselves in the TK-140X's favor. It delivers 200 watts in
music power at 4 Ω ; 170
watts at 8 Ω , IHF standard. Also in terms of
continuous power: 80watts/80 watts at 4 ohms; 60 watts/60 watts at 8 ohms.
Distortion factor at rated output; less than 0,5%. Power bandwidth: 15 Hz to
30,000 Hz. These superior specifications are the result of special complementary Darlington circuits and heavy duty
silicon transistors, both in its driver and power amplifiers. These silicon
transistors also assure long lasting, excellent performance.
FET, Supersensitive
Front End
The
TK-140X boasts an FM Front End that also vies comparison with the most
expensive FM Tuners. Take the 3 FET used in two stages of RF amplification, and
the Mixer. Also the 4-gang variable capacitor, and stable oscilator, (Frequency drift within 0,015% over temperature variations
between -10 to 50 Centigrade). They all add up to a super-sensitive,
distortion-free FM front end with selectivity characteristics that are hard to
beat. Sensitivity (IHF): 1,7 µV. Image Rejection, Cross Modulation, IF
Rejection; all better than 100 dB. Alternate Channel Selectivity: 45 dB. T.H.D.
less than 0,5% at 400 Hz, 100% modulated signal.
The TK-140X has an FM antenna coupling transformer which provides
perfect matching at its 75 Ω. Input
for single wire or coaxial cable antenna leading, or at its 300 Ω . Input for parallel feeder lines. This
eliminates any possibility of line-to-tuner coupling losses due to impedance
mismatch.
New Integrated
Circuits
Use
of new , high-gain Integrated Circuits (IC) in all 4 IF Amplifiers has
permitted the TK-140X's Limiter Circuit to react to extremely minute input
voltages. This has LED to the exceptional Signal-to-Noise Ratio of better than
65 dB and an FM Capture Ratio of 1,0 dB. This means that where there are two FM stations on the same
frequency, a mere 1 dB difference is all that's necessary to capture one
station and utterly reject the other.
