What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Akai AT-2200

If you are looking for a beatutiful start in top-quality stereo, the Akai AT-2200 await you. Perfectly matched in performance and styling, the formidable '2200 combination draws upon the latest advances in electronic audio technology to offer you truly outstanding features previously available only with systems of perhaps twice the price. Smooth, balanced flywheel tuning, new Phase Lock Loop MPX plus separate Signal and Tuning meters are featured with the AT-2200.
T Both feature deluxe wood cabinets and push-button rear panel connections. Perfectly paired for excellence in Quality and elegance in design, the Akai AT-2200 stereo tuner combine to form a stereo system of rare quality.

 Smooth, Balanced Flywheel Tuning
A large, balanced flywheel makes tuning wonderfully smooth and easy. It actually glides to the desidere setting with but the slightest turn. And its superior FM and AM circuitry assure top Fm and AM reception. With the FM Auto (Mute) switch, a muted effect is given simultaneously upon FM Auto Setting.

New FM-IF Section
The FM-IF section of the AT-2200 incorporates the latest high-efficiency IC circuitry. This section is comprised of a 6-stage limiter, detector and several auxiliary circuits which are comparable in performance to 213 different conventional components (100 transistors, 84 resistors, 25 diodes and 4 condenser). Moreover, a "quadrature" detector provides excellent linearity and minimizes distortion over an exceptionally wide frequency range.

PLL MPX Section for Good Separation and Low Distortion
New PLL (Phase Lock Loop) circuitry assures complete stability. It generates a 19 kHz phase signal that is locked to a 19 kHz pilot signal. These two provide a 38 kHz switching signal and guarantee better than 40 dB separation with less than 0,5% total (less than 0,3% monaural) harmonic distortion.
Separate Signal Strength and FM Tuning Meters.
Two of the most remarkably deluxe features of the AT-2200 are its separate precision meters for signal strength and FM center tuning. A signal strength meter conveniently registers the relative strength of FM and AM signals to make precise tuning easier, while and FM tuning meter and FM stereo indicator lamp lets you zero-in FM tuning always right on dead-center.

Built-in AM Antenna and Versatile Connections
A built-in AM ferrire bar antenna is another convenient feature of the AT-2200 and provides excellent broadcast band reception. Multiple antenna connections, including distant and local FM antenna terminals, enable connection of the proper type of antenna for any location.

Output Level Control
The AT-2200 features a calibrated output level control to precisely match the amplifier input.
