What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Sony SSU-3000

The SSU-3000 and SSU-4000 are the latest addition to Sony's fine line of outstanding high fidelity loudspeaker systems. Two speakers that Sony presents with exceptional pride. Pride that stems out of all the years of effort and speaker research that went into them.
So let us look briefly at some of the steps that led up to the ultimate development of these ultimate Sony speakers.

The Basic Premise
Today's technology simply does not allow for the perfect conversion of electrical into mechanical energy. We at Sony approached the development of our speakers with this grim reality in mind.
Thus our goal was lofty, but realistic. To create a line of speakers with a minimum of coloration. With a wide and flat frequency response and low distortion.
 Sony SSU-3000 Features
3-way bass reflex system with 10" cone woofer, 3 ¼" midrange and 1" dome tweeter
"Carbocon"  carbon fiber cone material  for  outstanding frequency and transient response.
"Balanced Drive" mid-range with oversize voice coil eliminates cone "doubling"
Mid-range and tweeter "Diffuser/Equalizer" smooths peaks and dips in the mid to high freqiency range.
Microscopic titanium foil in Titanium Dome Tweeter brings out transparent highs
Newly-developed spider of glass epoxy reduces unwanted vibration in the low frequency mode, while maintaining long, linear voice coil excursion.
Precision cast Aluminum Frame keeps cone and voice coil locked in position, and reduces transfer of unwanted vibrations to cabinet.
Continually adjustable level controls for mid-range and tweeter
Dual-Slope L/C Network blends woofer, mid-range and tweeter to reduce peaks.
Bass reflex tuned port raises acoustic efficiency
High power handling capacity - up to 150 watts
High density flakeboard cabinrt finished in fine, hand-rubbed multiple lacquer coating and hardwood veneer.
Spring-loaded speaker terminals
