What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Rogers LS5/9

The Broadcast Monitor Heritage
We are particularly pround of our long and close association with the B.B.C. under whose Approved Accerditation we manufacture the world renowed LS3/5a and LS5/9 Broadcast Monitors. Rogers is one of only a select handful of Approved Licensees who have proved they can maintain the impeccable manufacturing standards required for their production. It is those very same standards which form the benchmark for our total production and Quality Control Procedures.

LS5/9
The LS5/9 marks 20 years of close association between the design and development departments of the B.B.C. and Rogers. It is compact system designed for studio monitoring purposes, and capable of outstanding resolution and authority in a matching audio system.

At the heart of every conventional loudspeaker ies the voice coil - crucial to its power handling and resistance to overload. At Rogers we design and produce our own very high temperature voice coils as well as all the tooling required to wind and handle them.
Polypropylene has been recognised for some time as an excellent cone material combining rigidity, low mass and self-damping. Againg we make our own tooling and vacuum-form all our cones giving us complete control over virtually every aspect of the bass unit performance.
Surrounds and spiders are specially selected or manufactured to our specific requirements.

The latest generation of metal dome tweeters has allowed us to make significant advances in the high frequency response of our new models. Clean, transparent, detailed sound with extended response is the hallmark of this exciting unit. Power handling, sensitivity and damping are enhanced by the use of ferro-fluid in the magnet gap.

Matching Stand S-59 - The S Series Stands, designed specifically to match the LS3/5a and the LS5/9, are constructed from heavy duty steel tube and sheet to achieve rigidity, low resonance characteristics and high mass. They are fitted with adjustable carpet piercing spikes to give maximum stability.
