What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Onkyo TA-630D

 Stereo Cassette Tape Deck
A full-feature front loading cassette deck with phase-locked loop (PLL) servo DC motor drive system and unique "Accu-Bias" control for complete tape compatibility. Equipped with a newly developed hyperbolic S&S sendust rec/pb head, Dolby NR with MPX filter, memory rewind full auto stop mechanism, timer start/pause function, rec-mute switch and large VU meter with two peak level indicators.

Accu-Bias is Onkyo's exclusive system. It works with a pair of reference signal generators built into the TA-630D. Feed these signals to your tape, and read the reproduction signal on the meters. If bias is off for that cassette tape, you compensate with continuous variable settings until you get an absolutely flat frequency response. It's that simple, and you get the best high frequency response, least distortion and lowest signal to noise ratio.
High Quality Long Life "S&S" Sandust Head
Onkyo's recently developed "S&S" Sedust head (made from a highy robust silicon/iron/aluminum alloy of outstanding magnetic properties) plays a very big role in achieving the high quality of sound reproduction in the TA-630D. Extended frequency response 920 Hz - 18,000 Hz with chrome tapes) and an exceptionally wide dynamic range make your recordings sound professional-like.

Other important features:
Dolby NR System with Switchable MPX Filter
Built-in Dolby FM Decoder
Timer Switch for Automatic recording or monitoring Alarm
One-Touch Rec Muting for Clean Editing
Memory rewind for Rapid replay
Separate 3-Way Bias and Equalization Selectors
Full Auto-Stop mechanism
