What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

A fully automatic, belt-driven, professional-quality stereo turntable utilizing two precision motors and complete with induced magnet type cartridge.
The Pioneer PL-A353 is the perfect stereo turntable for the man about to invest in his first set of hi-fi components. But so precise and advanced are its features that an old hi-fi hand will more than feel at home with it. Designed for ease-of-operation as well as precision, the PL-A35 is fully automatic - from the playing of the record to auto-repeat and tonearm return at the end of the record. You'll never touch  the tonearm, your records get extra long-life protection. Additionally, this Pioneer unit features manual operation if you prefer even more precision. It has a double motor system for smooth, stable operation, comes complete with cueing device, anti-skating device, induced magnet type cartridge and diamond stylus. At its price, you'll look a long time to find its equal in performance and reliability. Because Pioneer performance and reliability is not easily duplicated.

Features
Professional performance yet effortless operation
This Pioneer model combines studio-quality performance with the operational ease of a fully automatic. Simply flick the function lever to Start position once, anf the tonearm will be automatically moved over and lowered onto the record and, at the end of the disc, will return automatically to its rest. One-touch Cut and Repeat features let you interrupt and repeat any rcord freely.
Synchronous motor and belt drive
The turntable platter is driven by a synchronous 4-pole motor of excellent stability independent from power voltage fluctuations. The drive belt is precision-finished on both sides, a feature that helpes reduce wow and flutter to an absolute minimum. (The tonearm is moved by a separate, geared motor.)
Anti-skating device
Model PL-A35 features an effective countermeasure against skating (excess pressure of the stylus against the inner wall of the record groove). The anti-skating device keeps the stylus correctly balanced in the groove and assures perfect tracking.
Directly readable tracking force adjustment
The tracking force is adjustable over a wide range so that practically any cartridge (with standard EIA plug) can be accommodated. The balance weight is equipped with a gauge for easy, direct reading of the tracking force.
High quality magnet-type cartridge supplied
The supplied cartridge, Pioneer model PC-50, is a magnetic type of very true-to-the-record sound quality and a frequency response from 10 to 25,000 Hz. Its stylus is a durable diamond type.
"free Hinge" Dust cover
The transparent dust cover is held by spring-loaded hinges and can be arrested in any desired position. If desired, it can be removed altogether.
Oiled walnut base
Adds an extra touch of value and elegance to your stereo installation.
