What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Philips GA312 turntable

Servo electronic turntable with integrated tone arm

Electronically controlled for smoother reproduction

Features

A free-floating sub-chassis is suspended independently over the main chassis. The rigid main chassis absorbs any vibration. The floating sub-chassis gives further protection to stylus and record

Electronic stop system eliminates stylus side thrust distortion, temporary cross talk, thumping and groove jumping.

DC motor is combined with a tacho generator. A mini-computer regulates its operation. The computer constantly monitors the running speed. Any deviation - such as changes in cycle current or cleaning brush drag - is instantly corrected.

The driven platter is isolated from motor vibration by a shock-absorbing, precision ground and stabilized polyurethane drive belt. Flutter and rumble are dramatically reduced.

Elastically decoupled counterweight balances the cartridge weight in all planes.

Electronic circuits adjust the speed for 33-⅓ and 45 rpm records. Each speed hasd its own fine adjustment control. All controls have a ligh indicator

Tone-arm cue control lets you raise or lower the arm at any part of the record. Tone arm cueing is feather light, viscous damped and extremely accurate.

Adjustable anti-skating device counteracts the centrifugal force of the spinning record.
