What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Sonab 67S

Many people maintains that the turntable, after the loudspeakers, is the most important part of stereo equipment.
If you have a bad turntable, neither amplifier non loudspeakers will help. It will sound bad. In addition, an inferior turntable will ruin records. Stereo records of great value can quickly be ruined by a poor stylus or turntable.
We have one turntable of our own, the Sonab 67S.

Technics ST-8044

The first requirement in an FM tuner that is designed to furnish high fidelity reception is accurate tuning.  If the tuning is off just a bit, there is an increase in distortion and decrease in stereo separation, two problems which can negative the virtues of even the best tuner designs.
In the ST-8044, the problem of inaccurate tuning was solved quite simply. First, Technics designers removed all needle-type mechanical meters, which are usually used to indicate signal strength  and center-of-channel tuning, and replaced them with responsive and easy-to-read LED's .  And once you've tuned in a ststion, the active servo lock will keep it from drifting despite temperature and humidity changes. In short, with the ST-8044, accurate tuning aids and the servo lock contribute directly to low distortion and stable stereo separation.
 Active Servo Lock
One way to prevent frequency drift and its accompanying distortion is to "lock" the local oscilator. But with this approach, the IF stage and FM discriminator cannot respond to temperature changes, which occur as the tuner "warms up", and other varying conditions. However, the Active Servo Lock in this tuner maintains precise, center-to-channel tuning under these conditions by preventing frequency drift not only in the local oscilator but also in the IF stage and FM discriminator. The big merit is that even a careless or hasty setting of the dial is sufficient to tune in the station accurately with the ST-8044. Where as you normally would have to  position the center-tuning meter rather carefully for low distortion and good stereo separtion. with  the active servo lock you can tune within ±75 kh on either side of the station's frequency. The active servo lock is then activated three seconds after the tuning LED's light up, and at the same time the "Servo Lock" indicator light goes on.
Just tune the ST-8044 to the general area of the station and the active servo lock will do the rest. If for any reason you want to defeat the servo lock, you can do so by pressing a switch.
 High-Sensitivity Front End
The RF stage benefits from, among other components, a junction FET for good selectivity, sensitivity, image and spurious rejection. Tuning is accomplished with a precision3-ganged variable tuning capacitor, and the figures tell the story of the high-sensitivity of this tuner; usable sensitivity is 1,9 µV (300 Ω). The more important 46 dB stereo quieting sensitivity is 2,5 µV (75 Ω).

High S/N Ratio and Wide, Stable Separation
In the IF stage, you'll find three flat-group-delay ceramic filters for high selectivity and a five-stage differential amplifier with excellent limiting characteristics. Selectivity is 75 dB; the S/N Ratio is 75 dB (IHF), and separation is a wide 45 dB at 1 kHz, MPX decoding is accomplished with a PLL (phase locked loop) circuit incorporated into a single IC.
 5 LED's Indicate Signal Strength
The number of LED's lit indicate signal strength in a linear progression. One LED means that the signal is very weak and is barely being picked up by the tuner. Two LED'ss mean that the station is weak and the program material will be difficult to hear. Three LED's ; the quality of the sound will not be very good, but speech can be readily understood and music will be listenable.  Four LED's ; the signal is strong enough for good musical fidelity. Five LED's; strong signal, bets possible reception with this tuner.
 Other Features
Quadrature detector with outstanding characteristics contributing to a wide, flat frequency  response and low distortion.
Easy-to-read 220 mm dial scale. The tuning knob's "positive" feel is enhanced by an oil-less sleeve and a dial rope coated with fluoro-resin.
Special muting circuit to reduce pop noise when detuning.
Fm Auto/Mono switch and FM muting to eliminate inter-station noise when tuning between stations.
High-quality AM section with 2-ganged variable capacitor and ceramic filter.

Lenco L 75

The Lenco L75 record player is a precision instrument of true Hi-Fi quality which will satisfy even the most demanding music lover. The instrument can be used for stereo as well as monophonic listening.
The usual speeds of 16²/₃; 33¹/; 45 and 78 RPM can be pre-set in click stops and the speed can also be varied continuously from 30 to 86 RPM.
The light tonearm of the L75 is a first-class example of fine mechanical precision, and guarantees clear, undistorted sound reproduction, with the greatest possible protection for your records. The tonearm is lowered onto the record by a hydraulically damped lowering device - thereby eliminating the possibility of record or needles being damaged whilst putting the tonearm onto the record.
 Technical Description
The very silent 4-pole motor is spring mounted onto a rigid steel baseplate. The dynamically balanced turntable is made of die-cast zinc, and weighs 4 kg.
The power is transmitted from the conical motor shaft to the turntable by arubber covered idler whell. The speed is changed by moving the idler wheel on the motor shaft.
The miniature ball-bearings fitted into the tonearm allow for a free sideways movement, and the knife-edge bearing keeps friction to a minimum.
An adjustable sliding weight enables one to set stylus pressure exactly to suit the cartridge being used. An automatic brake comes into operation when the turntable is switched off. All tonearms can be supplied with an anti-skating device.
Every L75 is supplied with a centre piece for records with a large centre hole, a stroboscope disc for exact setting of speed, a stylus-adjusting gauge for accurate setting of stylus overhang, a set of shock-absorbing mounting supports and a cut out template (only required for chassis model).

BIC Venturi Formula 4

 About
B-I-C  Venturi Speaker Systems
In the short time that B-I-C Venturi speakers have been available to the public, they have earned an unprecedented reputation for reproducing accurate,life-like sound.
Based on an eclusive physic principle and coupled with some of the most advanced engineering ever concentrated on a speaker system. B-I-C Venturi speakers represent the ultimate in the state of the art.. This, plus their remarkably high efficiency and power handling capability, make it possible to finally achieve the wide dynamic range of music not previously available to the enthusiast.
 B-I-C Venturi  Formula 4
The Formula 4 is capable of producing still lower bass response even more efficiently than the remarkable Formula 2. it employs a larger, but still modest-sized enclosure and a 10" woofer.
The Formula 4 will yield sound pressure levels from amplifiers rated as low as 15 watts RMS that enhance such hi-fi systems and produce remarkable accuracy and quality.
Yet, when operated with amplifiers capable of very high, clean output power, the Formula 4 really shows its mettle. Played softly every musical nuances and delicate modulation is heard with absolute clarity and definition. Played loudly, the Formula 4 performs cleanly and articulately, following step for step the total dynamic range of the original program.
B-I-C Venturi Principle Bass Section - transforms the magnitude of air mass and energy in a way never before applied to acoustics. The result is bass response hundreds percent more efficient and substantially purer in quality than is possible from any other speaker of comparable size.

Biconex Pyramidal Dispersion Horn - was developed to match the demanding capabilities of the B-I-C Venturi  bass section. It is far more efficient, can handle more power and covers a wider, uninterrupted frequency range than cones and domes. And, unlike other horn designs, it can't add metallic sound coloration and has truly wide angle disperdion in both the horizontal and vertical planes, for unrestricted system positioning.

Dynamic Tonal Balance Compensation - adjusts speaker performance automatically (when desired) to provide aurally "flat" response at all listening levels in accordance with the Fletcher-Munsen hearing characteristics. This is accomplished in a manner which cannot be achieved by amplifier loudness or contour controls.

Extended Musical Dynamic Range - results from the unique combination of high efficiency and high-power handling capability. Even our smallest model, the new Formula 4 can be used with amplifiers rated up to 100 watts RMS per channel.

Sturdily constructed enclosures, choice of 6 grille colors. The enclosures are sturdily constructed and are free of resonances and other spurious vibrations which add unnatural coloration often mistaken as bass. A new type, sonically transparent, attractive foam grille is available in a choice of black, brown, beige, burnt orange, blue, red, any of which can be resprayed to any desired colors. Optional bases available to enhance the appearance of B-I-C Venturi  speakers when placed on the floor.

This of course says a great deal about the kind of quality the audiophile should expect from this receiver; but it says even more about the company that would build it. By any standards, the CR-1000 is an important achievement. It is a combination of an outstanding FM tuner and an extremely low-distortion, high-power, versatile amplifier, both of which could stand by themselves as independent hi-fi components. (It does not include an AM tuner because the discriminating music lover would most likely prefer to be without it.) the unit features the world's first application of negative feedback to the FM tuner's multiplex switching circuit, resulting in very low harmonic distortion and intermodulation distortion. Power is prodigious; RMS continuous output of 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms, both channels driven, at 0,1% THD over 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Because the FM tuner uses an elaborate 5-gang tuning capacitor, as well as a triple tuning circuit with dual-gated MOS-FET's, the quality of FM reception is at the highest level presently possible for a tuner of any cost. Which leads us to another significant facet of the CR-1000. with all its excellence, you shall discover its price to be surprisingly agreeable. This, by itself, makes the CR-1000 a most unique stereo proposition.
