What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Royd Abbot loudspeakers

Slim and elegant, The Abbot is compact floor standing model which, while occupying little more space than a stand mounted miniature, is capable of producing a big speaker sound.
Finished in the same high quality veneers The Abbot utilises much of the technology featured in The Prior. This includes time aligned drive units, a carefully constructed cabinet containing comprehensive bracing and the new steel and filled polyurethane elstomer base plate.
Substituting the 8" doped fibre bass/mid range driver for a 6-1/2" model the Abbot is smaller and less costly than The Prior. The Abbot  offers the optimum performance for the music lover who is limited for space, providing excellent sound quality in smaller rooms and being very unexacting in its siting requirements.
A wide range of amplification may be used to drive The Abbot. It will work happily with good integrated models yet reward those who drive them with the very best pre-power combinations.
as with all Royd loudspeakers The Abbot is built to the highest standards for pride of ownership and quality sound reproduction, not merely upon first listening, but for many years to come.
