What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Sony PS-2250 turntable

Newly-developed servo-controlled direct drive turntable and turntable system. Rumble-free performance with lowest flutter and wow.

PS-2250 features:

Direct-drive turntable

The turntable and motor are directly coupled, eliminating idler and belt. The result is extremely silent, reliable operation.

Sony's exclusive AC servo drag cup motor

There is virtually no irregular rotation torque or vibration because of the combination of an AC motor (with non-magnetic copper material press formed into a cup shape on the rotor) and frequency generator servo mechanism

Wow and Flutter

Combination of a turntable with large-mass inertia moment and AC servo system keeps wow and flutter extremely low, less than 0,04% and 0,03% for TTS-4000

Rumble

AC servo control enables the motor to roatate at low speeds. So the rumble is virtually inaudible; under -58 dB, and _60 dB for TTS-4000

Electrical speed switching and adjustment

Adjustment is accomplished by changing the circuit constant of the servo amplifier.

Stroboscope to measure the turntable speed; Pitch control to obtain accurate speed; Feather touch speed selector

Static balanced tonearm with direct-reading gauge, anti-skating compensator and lateral balancer (PS-2250)
