JVC JT-V31 tuner

JVC JT-V31 High Fidelity FM/AM Tuner
What do you want from a tuner? Easy station selection and high fidelity sound are the two most important things, naturally. But how can you be sure that the tuner you're about to buy will deliver them? Here's what our JVC audio engineers have to say about the new JT-V31.
"Providing the two most basic function of a tuner, if it is to be strictly hi-fi, is a challenge most research labs and theoretical thinkers think is easy to meet. But in practice you find that an ingenious circuit designed to solve one problem - say that of increasing FM selectivity - might lower the sensitivity, or degrade other specifications, once you get it wired into your prototype model. So the so-called perfect circuit is not so ingenious after all. In truth, we've made the best compromises we could in the JT-V31. It's really state-of-the-art and we think it's a lot of tuner for the money."
The longer you own it, the more you'll appreciate it. It's the JT-V31 from JVC - Listening for the future.

FM 65 dB Selectivity
Selecting the station you want in FM-crowded urban areas is a growing problem in tuners not built for the job. The JT-V31 however has a new 4-resonator type single-unit ceramic filter to help achieve an impressive 65 dB selectivity without degrading other important specifications.

Precision Built FM Frontend
A dependable frequency linear tuning capacitor in the FM frontend increases sensitivity to distant or weak stations and affords high tuning precision.

FM Stereo PLL Circuit
The newly developed PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) circuit in an IC form delivers outstanding stereo separation over an IC form delivers outstanding stereo separation over a wide frequency range with more reliability and stability than conventional multiplex (MPX) circuits. Independent left/right-channel low-pass filters eliminate crosstalk for more precise sound image location.

IC Construction
Three high-integration IC formed blocks, one each for the FM-IF FM-MPX, and AM, guaranties dependability and reduce service needs.
FM/AM Tuning Ease
The extra long (240 mm ) dial is frequency linear for FM and is designed scientifically for easiest reading in actual use. The mechanism has a high-inertia flywheel and stretch-free "radial cord" cables to maintain high precision operation in all types of environment.

Twin Tuning Meters
The signal strength meter (FM an AM) at the left side of the meter window always responds in linear proportion to the strengths of incoming signals without overloading. Its circuit is the integral-linear type and is never :fooled" (saturated). The FM tuning meter at the right is equally well built, providing visual confirmation of the tuning of an FM signal to the point where distortion is minimal and stereo separation best.

Additional Features
Hi-Blend Switch - Enables elimination of high-frequency FM noise for optimum stereo separation
Low Distortion AM  - IC with self-contained RF amp. low-pass filter and ceramic filter assures clear, pleasant AM sound.
FM Muting - Switch ON (in normal position) to eliminate FM inter-station noise, or OFF to tune in weak or distant stations.
