What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Alchemist Nexus APD43A amplifier

APD43A Nexus Integrated Amplifier

Not to be confused with ordinary integrated amplifiers, the APD43A is a truly high end product.

The APD43A offers six line level inputs and a record output for tape decks.  One input can be converted to accept a MM phono module for vinyl enthusiasts. A tape monitoring loop facilitates real time recording via three head machines. Additionally there are two Pre-amp outputs for connection to upgrade power amplifiers at a later date.

Difficult musical passages (not to say difficult loudspeaker loads) are handled with consummate ease by the 50W + RMS power sections.

The APD43A Nexus integrated utilises two pairs of high current output devices, configured in Class A/B mode, which enables it to consistently drive a variety of loudspeaker types with and loads with excellent results.

The Nexus range of amplifiers has been designed to fulfill the needs of the music lover that appreciates the finer things in life, especially the basic human need for reproduction. Even though the original Nemesis designs set new standards for modern hi-fi equipment, the evolution into the Nexus range offers a significant improvement on the original designs.

The output stages now utilise higher grade selected components ensuring greater tolerance control and therefore greater sonic qualities.

The component layout has been revised and wiring kept to a minimum. All earthing arrangements follow a low route/noise philosophy.

High capacity, low flux, toroidal mains transformers improve imaging and give greater stability to the sound stage.

Additional circuitry for EMC filtering has been implemented in a unique way to improve sound quality.

The new design now incorporates a fully regulated power supply section for the preamplifier stage.

The earthing throughout the power supply sections has been revised to reduce noise and enhances smoother performance

Bias sensing transistorised circuitry, designed by the legendary Tim de Paravicini, is utilised to keep a tight control on bias drift.

A fully independent delay circuit with timed switch-on and immediate switch-off ensures that there are no clicks and thumps.

All products are now fully remote controllable.

The new styled casework offers a more modern approach whilst still maintaining Alchemist undoubted originality.

High quality plated push buttons and knobs control all the input functions and offer a very high level of aesthetic appeal.

A finely tuned DC sensing circuit differentiates between good and bad DC content. In the event of any damaging DC being present the unit will shut down until the threat has passed.
