What is stereo?




There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Luxman D 38u


The D-38u is an exclusive CD player that incorporates the modern digital circuits and analog technologies proved in the D Series. The D-38u is mounted in a square wooden case that may remind audiophiles of our past products, like the case with the vacuum tube integrated SQ-38u amplifier. The number 38, which symbolizes our best products, is given to this first CD player in the series. To realize acoustic expression that is refined and warm to listeners, semiconductor output based on high quality DAC and cathode follower-type vacuum output using vacuum tube ECC82 can be selected. The headphone output terminals and a remote control that covers all operations enable the listener to conveniently.

D-38u Features:
• 16mm thick MDF case with a natural wood veneer enhances the overall rigidity of the D-38u
• More than just a pretty face, the 8mm thick front panel, is a hairline-finished aluminum board which adds chassis rigidity
• D-38u circuitry is designed specifically for playing CDs, with a left-hand mechanism adopted for an ideal flow of power supply and audio signals
• Drive mechanism is supported on a thick 15mm base plate of pure aluminum for added stability and reduced jitter
• D-38u D/A converter features a 24Bit, 192KHz PCM1754 Burr-Brown DAC chipset
• Switch on the fly between Tube Output and Solid State Output, 12AU7 is only lit when vacuum tube section is in use
• Headphone output is driven by analog output, can be switched between Tube and Solid State on the fly
• Large, Easy to read display offers a 3-stage dimmer function (brightness adjustment)
• Externally cosmetics mirror other Luxman 38 series components, including power ring indicator and up/down lever switch
• Supplied full function aluminum remote control with wooden border even allows adjustment of the SQ-38u volume
• Vacuum tube components are designed for a life-time of service and are stress tested for 24 Hrs before installation into D-38u
