What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Philips GA-202 turntable

Philips Electronic Turntable with Tone Arm
The GA-202 electronic turntable is a new state-of-art. Unitized single-play record player complete with tone arm and hinged, removable dust cover.
Solid state transistor circuits control and automatically maintain precise turntable speeds, individual potentiometers fine calibrate all speeds for correct musical piych. The electronic brain constantly senses and continually compensates for variations in line voltage, frequency, stylus/groove friction and cleaning brush drag. Exact turntable speed is maintained independently of phono cartridge tracking force adjustment. A photo-electronic circuit silently switches off the GA-202 at the end of a record.
The turntable platter and tone arm re integrally coupled and mounted on a free-floating sub-chassis. Tone arm eith both lateral and vertical low-friction bearings. Tracking force is easily and accurately adjusted with a built-in sliding gauge on the tone arm. Stylus side thrust compensation and anti-skate bias adjustment is variable or may be left inoperative. Cueing is accurate up to the runout groove.
The GA-202 styling is aesthetically simple and combines advanced electronics mechanical design and functions into an attractive, silent and convenient instrument for faithful record reproduction. It introduces a new standard of performance to music lovers who prefer a manual turntable.
