What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Noresco 2370 receiver

The 2370 is the first of a whole new generation of state-of-the-art. Receivers from Noresco. This receiver we believe to be the answer, too the audio enthusiast's tireless search for an "everything" Stereo and Quad Receiver.

The heart of this receiver uses an NF Direct Coupled low-distortion circuitry design in the equalizer amps. The result of this Negative Feedback (NF) principle is vastly superior performance through the entire frequency range to match RIAA playback characteristics. The Power Amplifier achieves its low-distortion properties through the use of low-noise silicon transistors in Semi-complimentary SEPP output circuitry.

Ahead of this clean powerful amp design, is the all-in 4-channel program circuitry. The 2370 is master of all 4-Channel systems. Discrete with built-in CD-4 demodulator, and SQ Matrix decoder. The Matrix circuit will also provide a startling enhancement of 2 channel stereo program material. The circuit recoveres ambience "information" and out-of-phase sound components lost on normal stereo playback and rechannels them to the rear channel amplifiers to yield a life-like "surround sound".

To provide the optimum performance characteristics from Discrete CD-4 discs there is a CD-4 Carrier Level Control and separate controls for left and right "wall" CD-4 separation. A test record with complete instructions is included with each unit. On the mode selector switch is another rather unique function for households with divers musical tastes. It's a 2 x stereo function, providing independent stereo program performance. For example, a pair of speakers in th eliving room could be tuned to a favourite FM stereo broadcast, while 8 track or stereo discs are playing in the recreation room.

The FM Tuner Section is geared for superlative performance, FET Front End and Ceramic Filter IF stage contribute to excellent sensitivity (2,5 µV). Coupled with this excellent selectivity is a new wider. Linear FM dial scale. Tuning is a cinch. Further aids are big, clean, tuning meters for signal strength and centre-of-channel FM stereo. A new, smooth flywhell action and larger tuning knob must be operated to fully appreciate how easy and precise tuning can now be.

The features detailed fully on the reverse, provide all the facility in a receiver you could want. Tape-to-tape dubbing, Tape/Source Monitoring, Loudness Contour Control, headphone jack positions for 2 Stereo program sources, or 4 Channel Headphones, Front and Rear Remotr Speaker switches, Split Front/Rear Treble and Bass Controls, plus independent Channel Balance Controls. This makes possible proper compensation for speaker positioning and varying acoustics in the listening area. Operating modes are discretely illuminated below the dial scale.

Truly, the 2370 is a multi-program, multi-talented performer to provide dependable service and satisfaction for many years to come. A pround addition to the Noresco line and just the beginning of great things to come in the Concept 2000 series.
