FM/AM Stereo Receiver - Low Styling, Medium Power, High Performance
In its trim, low-slung 95 mm high cabinet, the JVC R-1X features the cream of the latest JVC amp/tuner technology. Power is modest yet you can fill your room with clean sound from corner to corner. You'll appreciate the tuning aids that allow you to zero in on a wanted station quickly and accurately. Here are the details of the priced-right little big performer from JVC.
Output Capacitor-Less (OCL) - The end of capacitor distortion
Speakers are directly coupled with the power amp of the R-1X in an OCL configured design. The signal does not encounter a single capacitor to add distortion and mar musical enjoyment. Its class-A predriver is loaded by a constant-current circuit for still lower distortion.
Tone control is incorporated in the power amp.
The power amp also doubles as a tone control circuit, adjusting the amount of NFB for various tonal shadings to taste. Absence of an active tone control circuit means less noise and distortion. Tonal adjustments are extremely natural sounding.
IC phono equalizer; accurate with flat response
The integrated circuit IC is used by JVC as a means to improve performance, assure re-alignment-free reliability, and eliminate any chance of instability. That's why we've used an IC for the phono circuit in the R-1X. This highly capable circuit permits accurate record reproduction with commendably low noise and distortion.
Tuner performance in FM and AM is clean and crisp.
Three ICs in the FM/AM tuner section make the R-1X a solid, reliable performer. One IC contains the FM IF amp, which assures low distortion (0,1% mono), high signal-to-noise ratio (82 dB). Another is found in the PLL stereo demodulator to keep distortion to a low 0,3% or less through the years. AM sound is pleasant and listenable thanks to still another IC for AM RF/IF
Tuning operation is simplicity itself
The tuning dial - with linear calibrations for FM - is wide and illuminated. A bank of five LEDs indicate signal strength, while a threesome of LEDs indicates the direction (left or right) you should turn the knob to accurately tune in the station for least distortion. A heavy flywheel makes tuning luxuriously smooth. It all adds up to unexcelled tuning ease.
