What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Harman/Kardon HK580i receiver

The hk580i is the lowest priced Harman/Kardon receiver ever to incorporate the incredible accuracy and reception of a digital, quartz locked tuner.

The tuner section is today's state-of-the-art.. You can tune up or down manually by pressing and holding one of the tuning buttons, or you can let the receiver scan automatically. Each time the scanner reaches a station, it will stop and allow the station to play for several seconds. It will continue scanning and playing until you find the station you want and defeat the scanning system.

For convenience, the hk580i gives you 4 memory presets, each able to store one AM station and one FM station for instant recall at the touch of a button.

The preamplifier and amplifier sections are just as impressive as our hk570i, with 35 amps available on demand. Accommodations for two tape decks and two speaker systems. There's also tape copy capability and more.
