What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Pioneer CS-A500 loudspeakers

3-way Multi-Amp Speaker System

The CS-A500 incorporates an FB (special Paper) 10" cone woofer, a $-3/4" mid-range and 3" tweeter in an infinite baffle enclosure-reproduction is exceptionally clear. It is also provided with inputs for use in a multi-amp system as well as full-range speaker system use. An easy operation level control for mid range and highs is on the walnut front baffle. The cabinet itself, of lustrous walnut, adds a gracious touch to any interior.

Speakers

Here is a smooth and powerful speaker system with woofer, mid-range speaker and cone tweeter this combination provides wide frequency response, clean sound, better directivity and transient response.

FB Cone Paper

For particularly fine separation of highs and lows, and improved efficiency, the paper of the speaker cones is manufactured with Pioneer's newly developed "Free Beating" process. Specially selected plant and animal fibres are combined to create a cone paper that ensures lower distortion and higher efficiency.

Level Control

The CS-A500 has a level control for mid-range and high frequencies, to allow acoustic adjustment to your particular room. There are 3 positions: - Increase, - Normal, - Decrease, with a 2 dB difference between steps. This control is on the front baffle, and the grille frame can be removed without tools for easy operation.

Multi-Amp Inputs

In addition to the full-range speaker system inputs, the CS-A500 is provided with inputs for operation in a multi-amp speaker system. You can use your present electronic crossover network, or for best result. Pioneer's electronic crossover network Model SF-700, preamplifier Model S.C.-700 and main amplifier Model SM-700. you have a choice of either a 2-channel or 3-channel multi-amp system with the selector switch on the back of the enclosure.

Crossover Network

One of the most important parts of any 3-way speaker system is the crossover network. To ensure high performance here, the CS-A500 employs the finest quality coil and ferrite core for excellent transient response. And the crossover points are set at lower frequencies for lower distortion and superior directivity. The damping is excellent and it is free from Intermodulation Distortion.

Cabinet

The CS-A500 cabinet is an infinite baffle, bookshelf type of oil-finished walnut - it blends in beautifully with existing decor. Oil-finished walnut is also used for the front baffle, to preserve the handsome appearance even when the grille frame is removed.
