What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

High performance Direct Access Receiver with VCR capability

Features

Direct Access quartz frequency synthesis tuning

Audio-Video control center for easy connection with video equipment

Legato Linear amplifier circuitry

Key Selling Feature Audio-Video control

The integration of audio and video equipment is finally a reality. Stereo video-cassette recorders, stereo videodiscs and monitors are taking their places beside audio equipment. The STR-VX450 provides your customer with connection facilities for all these video systems. You can hook up two video sources, such as a VCR, videodisc, or monitor TV. Plus, you can even dub from one VCR, to another. The advantage? High fidelity sound. Not the flat, lifeless sound normally associated with video. Your customers obtain it simply and easily through the STR-VX450.

Key Demonstration

Assemble the most complete audio/video system possible Demonstrate a stereo video-cassette or videodisc with the Sony receiver and a pair of separate speakers. Make sure to pick an impressive program. Point out that the consumer needs this type of hookup to appreciate the full benefits of the video sound source. A/B with video playback through mono television speakers.

Convenience Features

Audio Video Control Center - permits hookup for TV picture and sound, stereo video-cassette recorders, stereo video-cassette players. Tape copy possible from VCR-2 to VCR-1

Direct Access - design operates like a calculator keypad. Select AM or FM, then enter the frequency numbers of the station. For instance, to tune 104,30 FM, enter FM, then punch in one-zero-four-three-zero.

10 station AM or FM presets - for fast , esy selection of your favorite station

Memory scan - provides a 4 second sample of each preset station

Station Card - insert to mark preset stations

Auto tuning - between FM stations

Fluorescent display - indicates station frequency and function

Memory backup system - retains settings - even if the receiver is unplugged

Connections for two audio tape decks - with tape copying possible

VCR audio dubbing capability

Speaker switch for A, B. A &B, OFF

Technology Features

Quartz frequency synthesis - provides the most accurate, the most convenient tuning available

Sony's exclusive Direct Comparator - provides exceptionally quiet FM reception

Impedance speaker switch - 8 Ω  / 4 Ω  for compatibility with all speaker types

Legat Linear - amplifier circuitry eliminates switching distortion and dramatically lowers crossover distortion
